A Decade-Old Hidden Move

Sasuke called out to Kakashi, but Kakashi paid him no heed.

Even the usually slow-witted Naruto sensed something was wrong. He stepped forward, wanting to investigate.

Sasuke quickly pulled Naruto behind him. He activated his Sharingan and cautiously approached Kakashi.

The Konoha Ninjas around them grew wary as well.

A few moments later, Sasuke reached Kakashi. His pupils shrank, and alarm flickered across his face. Kakashi's eyes were just like his own—scarlet Tomoe Sharingan.

This wasn't Kakashi's left eye, the one hidden beneath his eyepatch. It was his normal right eye. There could only be one explanation: Kakashi had fallen under a Sharingan genjutsu!

"When did he get hit?"

Sasuke warily scanned their surroundings.

The Konoha Ninjas present were all on edge.

Kakashi had suddenly fallen under a genjutsu, which meant an enemy might be lurking nearby. And whoever could control a Jonin as powerful as Kakashi with genjutsu without anyone noticing was probably more than they could handle.

After looking around, Sasuke saw nothing suspicious, and the doubt on his face deepened.

Just then, Kakashi suddenly looked in one direction, then started walking toward it.

"Kakashi!"

Sasuke grabbed Kakashi by the arm.

The moment Kakashi was grabbed, his earlier blankness vanished. He turned and kicked at Sasuke.

Thump.

Sasuke had been ready and blocked the kick. Then he called out to the others, "Get the villagers away from here! I'll handle this!"

"Sasuke, I'll help you!" Naruto said.

"Okay!"

Sasuke glanced at Naruto and nodded.

Kakashi mechanically scanned his surroundings, then fixed his gaze on Naruto and stumbled toward him.

"What should I do, Sasuke?" Naruto asked urgently.

"I don't know when the enemy cast the jutsu on Kakashi, but if I'm right, it's a Sharingan genjutsu! Hold him off while I figure out how to break it!"
