Seeing Hyuga Hiashi's bewildered expression, Feng An could not bear it and stepped forward.

"Uncle, from now on we're family. What's yours is mine, so why make such a distinction?"

Seeing that look on his face, Hyuga Hiashi felt both resentful and helpless.

He had already made it clear to his daughter that as long as Feng An possessed a certain level of ability, he would not stand between them.

Now that he knew Feng An could comprehend the Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm, he had begun to acknowledge his potential.

He had been unable to watch the first two rounds of the Chunin exam, but he could watch the third. He did not ask for Feng An to be exceptionally strong—so long as he had the strength to protect Hinata, he could truly rest easy about her being with him.

Hinata also began to feel hungry, so the three stopped to rest.

Feng An pulled out a pile of food and drinks from his backpack.

Hyuga Hiashi saw that nearly everything Feng An had taken out was snacks.

He frowned and asked, "Can these things fill you up?"

"Don't worry, Uncle. There's plenty, enough to fill you up!"

As he spoke, Feng An pulled out another huge pile of chips, spicy strips, small fish, and all kinds of unbranded junk food from his backpack.

Hyuga Hiashi stared blankly at the snacks piled nearly half a person tall.

"You spent over 3,700 ryo on this junk food?!"

Feng An and Hinata did not care whether it was junk food or not. If it tasted good, that was all that mattered.

Feng An then took out the unfinished Military Rations Pills from before and handed them to Hyuga Hiashi.

"Then you can eat these, Uncle."

At the sight of the Military Rations Pills, Hyuga Hiashi recalled their rock-hard texture, their difficulty to swallow, and their awful taste.

"I'd rather eat junk food..."

Hinata handed Hyuga Hiashi a bag of chips.

"These are original flavor. They should suit your taste."

Hyuga Hiashi frowned as he tore open the package and tried one.

"As expected of junk food. One bite and it's nothing but additives."

Feng An glanced at him.

"Then why are you still eating?"

"I'm doing this for your own good. As long as I eat enough, fast enough, all this junk food will go into my stomach and won't harm either of you."

Hyuga Hiashi swallowed, then picked up another bag of tomato-flavored chips.

After tasting one, he frowned and said, "Tomato flavor. It definitely has even more additives. Neither of you is allowed to eat the tomato-flavored ones. Too many additives."

Then he swiftly devoured bag after bag.

Other than his mouth, there was probably nothing hard left on his body.

Hinata leaned close to Feng An and whispered, "Actually, Father likes ketchup the most... Let's leave the tomato-flavored ones for him."

Feng An nodded.

While eating spicy strips, Feng An suddenly sensed some movement nearby.

He stood up and said in a low voice, "Uncle, Hinata, it seems like something is approaching us."

Hearing this, Hyuga Hiashi and Hinata immediately put down their snacks and rose to their feet.

"Byakugan."

The two activated their Byakugan at the same time.

The range of their vision rapidly expanded outward.

In an instant, they both locked onto numerous figures darting through the forest.

"Seven... eight... nine... ten!"

They saw a full ten shinobi silently making their way toward them from all directions.

Hyuga Hiashi frowned deeply. Though he was curious how Feng An had sensed them in advance, this was clearly not the time to ask.

"Feng An, Hinata, protect yourselves."

He did not dare let his guard down. Judging from their movement speed, they were at least Chunin-level.

Among the three of them, two were Genin and only he was a Jonin. If the enemy had one or two Jonin among them, the situation would become extremely dire.

Hinata nodded and assumed the same Gentle Fist stance as Hyuga Hiashi.

After hearing Hyuga Hiashi's words, Feng An quickly stuffed the snacks back into his bag.

Hyuga Hiashi noticed what he was doing and frowned.

"Stop pretending."

Feng An froze and stopped what he was doing.

He told me to stop pretending. Did he see through the fact that I've been hiding my strength?

Feng An rubbed his nose.

"When did you figure it out, Uncle?"

Hyuga Hiashi thought he was asking how he had noticed him packing snacks without turning around.

He said disdainfully, "The Byakugan's ability."

Feng An paused.

The Byakugan can do that too?

Suddenly, a figure leaped onto a distant branch about twenty meters away from them.

That shinobi thought his movements were light and well concealed, but every move he made was within the Byakugan's locked range.

This was exactly what Hyuga Hiashi had been waiting for. The effective killing range of his Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm was twenty meters, so he had waited for the other side to enter his range first.

Hyuga Hiashi immediately locked on with his Byakugan.

"Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm."

He struck his palm toward the distant tree branch.

A high-density mass of Chakra, like a palm-sized Air Bullet, shot forth in an instant.

Before that shinobi could react, the unseen Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm pierced through his chest. He spat out a mouthful of blood and died on the spot, falling straight to the ground.

By striking first and killing with one move, he intimidated the remaining shinobi.

As expected of the clan head.

Feng An silently praised him.

"There are nine left."

Hyuga Hiashi kept using his three-hundred-and-sixty-degree Byakugan to observe the positions of the other nine.

In his eyes, after seeing the first shinobi to approach die, the remaining nine slowed down and gradually gathered together, seemingly preparing to launch a joint attack.

Feng An was also stunned. So they had come for him.

Hyuga Hiashi asked in a low voice, "Feng An, do you have any enemies?"

Feng An frowned.

I'm friendly, handsome, and polite. Who could hate me that much?

"Taiyo and Taimeng?"

Their names surfaced in his mind.

"That old man and kid are really annoying."

Feng An muttered quietly.

Hyuga Hiashi's brow twitched. "You're saying we're annoying?"

"..."

Feng An was speechless.

"Who was talking about you..."

The voice of the shinobi who had spoken earlier came again.

"Have you made up your minds?"

Just as Hyuga Hiashi was about to speak, Feng An spoke first.

"I'll stay."

He then turned to the two of them. "You go first. I'll catch up in a moment."

He planned to stay behind and get information out of them, to see whether that old man and kid had truly sent them.

Hinata repeatedly shook her head, looking at Feng An with determination.

"No. We'll leave together."

Seeing Feng An make such a choice without hesitation at a life-or-death moment, Hyuga Hiashi angrily made up his mind.

"No, you two leave together!"

Feng An scratched his head. "Did you misunderstand something...?"

An angry roar came from the forest.

"Damn it, are you leaving or not? If you're not leaving, then none of you are leaving!"
