Background / History

Little Dragon originated as Yu Xiaogang's External Beast Martial Soul. Yu Xiaogang believed its original form had been exceptionally powerful, but his level-one innate soul power prevented it from condensing properly; this deterioration instead gave Little Dragon independent consciousness and a body separate from Yu Xiaogang's own. 32

Yu Xiaogang taught it literacy and tested the connection between them. Little Dragon quickly learned to read, write simple material with inked claws, study independently, and return information to Yu Xiaogang. This arrangement allowed the pair to divide studying and cultivation, effectively improving Yu Xiaogang's efficiency. 30 31

Its first soul-ring absorption marked the beginning of its visible draconic recovery. Little Dragon shared Yu Xiaogang's pain and pressure during the process, helping him endure a Thousand Year First Soul Ring; afterward, its former purple fur and pig-like appearance gave way to pale-gold scales, a horn, claws, and wings. 54 59

Successive dragon-type soul rings further restored its form. Following the second ring, it grew dramatically and displayed a roar that could briefly stun Yu Yuanzhen. After the third ring, it became a full-sized golden dragon but retained the ability to shrink into a small, affectionate form. 73 74 129

Little Dragon later refined Crimson Blood Amber, completing its delayed true Martial Soul awakening. This strengthened its connection with Yu Xiaogang and granted him access to the Martial Soul Avatar that ordinary Beast Martial Soul Masters possess from their initial awakening. 199 200 201

After Yu Xiaogang condensed a Soul Power Vortex, his ordinary soul power began to naturally inherit traits belonging to Little Dragon, further demonstrating how deeply its qualities had become integrated into his cultivation system. 425

When the Sea God offered Yu Xiaogang a path toward godhood on the condition that Little Dragon be replaced, Yu Xiaogang refused the offer rather than abandon the companion that had accompanied him since his awakening. 456

Appearance

Little Dragon's appearance changes substantially with its evolutions and attributes. Its default evolved form is a pale-gold or golden dragon; it can reduce itself to a kitten-sized hatchling-like form or expand into a giant dragon capable of carrying riders. 59 129 148

• Initially had pale-purple fur, deep-blue eyes, drooping ears, and a plump, pig-like body. 32

Personality

Little Dragon is affectionate, expressive, and deeply attached to Yu Xiaogang. It nuzzles him, seeks physical closeness, and refuses to abandon the name “Little Dragon” because Yu Xiaogang gave it that name at the beginning of their partnership. 59 74 129

It dislikes excessive studying and has learned to feign distress in hopes of escaping assigned reading. Bibi Dong was convinced by its act and intervened on its behalf, though Little Dragon immediately leaned into the sympathy it received. 107

It also enjoys praise and showing off. When asked to transport the group from the Sunset Forest, it proudly posed and became more smug after Yu Yuanzhen complimented it. It later deliberately made an intimidating entrance before unfamiliar opponents to establish a fearsome image. 148 261

Little Dragon's importance to Yu Xiaogang is such that he values their bond above an offered opportunity to inherit the Sea God's divine position. 456 460
