Background / History

Yu Xiaogang was driven from his clan in his youth after being mocked for his mutated Martial Soul. He later became known as a martial soul theorist and presents himself as the continent's “Theory Master.” 18

At Nuoding Academy, he identified Tang San's Twin Martial Souls and accepted him as his disciple. He also attempted to recruit Yao Yan, believing Yao Yan's Blue Silver Grass had mutated and wishing to study it; Yao Yan refused. 2 3

Yu Xiaogang accompanied Tang San to the Spirit Beast Forest, where he was seriously poisoned by a snake. Following Yao Yan's refusal to acknowledge or assist him, their hostility became increasingly open. 6 7

Tang Hao, whom Yu Xiaogang recognized as the former Haotian Mianxia, entrusted Tang San's care to him and left him a Pope's Token. 10

His conduct at Nuoding Academy eventually provoked a student uprising. Following a confrontation with Mang Tianchi over the Pope's Token and his actions toward the students, Yu Xiaogang was disowned and expelled from the academy. 54 56
