"You can come eat now!" Elorie called.
"Mm... okay." Chen Xuan replied from where he leaned against the windowsill.
He was still in the dream, and the city before him proved it: the crimson glow filling the sky gradually faded as streetlights flickered on one by one, outlining the crisscrossing roads; scattered lights also shone from the windows of the apartment building across the way, as if people, after a busy day, had finally returned home to rest. But in reality, whether on the streets or inside the buildings, everything was empty. Not a single person could be seen.
This Paris City seemed to belong to Elorie alone.
Chen Xuan had not immediately asked about what happened to her that day because he sensed her confusion. He realized that he had to follow the dream's setting and play his role well. If Elorie found him too suspicious, the dream might end early.
That was what made dreams so incredible.
The little angel would not question an empty city, yet she would grow suspicious over his repeated inquiries.
Dinner consisted of onion soup, pan-seared cod, beef bourguignon, and a stack of bread. Other than the store-bought bread, Elorie had made every dish herself. The small round table was packed full, looking both lavish and delicious.
"You're quite a good cook," Chen Xuan praised sincerely.
"Hehe, I learned it all online." Elorie smiled happily. "Before Miss Liu Li came, I lived here alone, so I gradually learned how to cook for myself."
"Seeing each other again after so long is worth celebrating properly." Liu Li swiftly poured red wine for all three of them. "Come, cheers!"
"Only one bottle at most," the angel reminded them.
"Oh, it's such a rare occasion. Don't fuss over that. Being happy is what matters, isn't it?"
