What on earth was it? Was the other party some huge, lively ball of light? Or a beehive stuffed with flashlights?
And since its light could shine through the stairwell entrance and into the corridor, it had to be nearby. There were no winding detours; it was coming straight toward this floor.
The Fatty couldn't keep weighing whether it was a ball of light or a beehive. He knew that if he didn't run now, he'd soon be riddled with holes.
His life was at stake! His life was at stake!
He couldn't worry about anything else. He turned and ran in the opposite direction from the light.
Fortunately, he'd gone to school and lived in a dorm before, so he knew that student dormitory corridors had staircases at both ends. If there was a ghost on this staircase, then he could just escape using the staircase at the other end.
But after running a few steps, the Fatty sensed something was wrong.

There were balls of light on both staircases!
The Fatty froze, his feet rooted to the spot.
He was caught between them, the poor sucker trapped in the middle.
If he wanted to escape now, he'd have to dig a hole through the middle of the corridor and crawl out.
But the Fatty didn't have that kind of skill. At that moment, he even found himself missing the reward he'd gotten in his first instance—that groundhog.
Even if the groundhog couldn't dig through the cold concrete floor in front of him, at least it would've been suited to the job.
Unlike him,
