The next morning, at nine o'clock, Ning Wangshu arrived at the classroom with Ma Junfan and the others.
By then, quite a few students were already seated. Overall, there were more girls than boys.
The moment Ma Junfan entered the classroom, his eyes lit up as he looked around. Before long, he pulled Liu Qi aside, gestured toward a few of the girls, and whispered to him.
They found seats. As more students arrived one after another, their counselor soon came in too.
Their counselor was a female teacher in her early thirties. She wore metal-framed glasses and had a mature, graceful air about her, along with an intellectual charm.
"Hello, everyone. I'm your counselor, Zhou Jing. This is our class's first meeting, and there isn't much to discuss. The main purpose is for everyone to get to know one another."
"Next, when I call your name, come up and introduce yourself..."
As Zhou Jing spoke, she paused and glanced at the dozens of students below. Then she suddenly asked, "By the way, which one of you is Ning Wangshu?"
Huh?
Ning Wangshu froze, apparently not expecting the counselor to call on him out of the blue.
Ma Junfan and the others sitting beside him all turned to look at him. The other students, who didn't know Ning Wangshu yet, looked around in unison.
Though a little puzzled, Ning Wangshu still stood up, raised his hand, and answered, "Teacher, I'm Ning Wangshu!"
Seeing him get up, Zhou Jing smiled. "So you're Ning Wangshu! Then let's start with you. Come up and introduce yourself."
"Uh... okay."
Ning Wangshu nodded and walked to the podium.
For some reason, Zhou Jing's smile had seemed especially warm to him. Maybe he was imagining it.
Once he reached the podium, Ning Wangshu looked at the
