Background

Chu Ge released Xiao Qian from the Dragon Bell after spending two wisps of Exotic Power. Though initially expecting a terrifying monster, he found a timid, palm-sized shadow spirit hiding beneath a table. The Dragon Bell established Chu Ge as her controller, while Xiao Qian addressed him as her new master. 33

Before joining Chu Ge, Xiao Qian had been sealed in an ugly iron head and forced to harm others. Her former connection to the Corpse Herding Sect left her marked by Corpse King Blood, allowing sect members to track her. Chu Ge killed four Blood Change Realm pursuers and used an Auspicious Ruyi Charm to suppress the evil power within her. 35 48 50

She initially relied on Chu Ge's Shadow Puppets as bodies, especially favoring a purple-clothed puppet she named Little Zi. Over time, she became a constant part of his cultivation routine, using Spirit Infusion to protect his meridians while he refined Exotic Power. 34 35 39

Xiao Qian later entered a lengthy slumber and emerged as a stronger naturally born spirit with inherited memories and telepathic ability. She learned that Beguilers follow a cultivation path distinct from human martial artists, centered on strengthening their spirit and innate talents rather than cultivating Exotic Power in the usual manner. 190 199

Her reactions to the Yunze mist and the Yunmeng Sect ruins led Chu Ge to uncover her connection to Yan Ruohan, the ancient Yunmeng Fairy. Xiao Qian could naturally possess Yan Ruohan's skeletal remains, but neither she nor Chu Ge could initially determine whether she was Yan Ruohan's rebirth or a new life formed from the fairy's scattered soul and a rare treasure. 264 278 279

Xiao Qian first manifests as a transparent, shadow-like girl no larger than an adult's palm. As her spirituality strengthens, her form becomes more solid and mature, eventually allowing her to inhabit a lifelike Left Path puppet body. 33 199 323

Xiao Qian is initially timid, nervous around Chu Ge, and eager to please him. She becomes visibly embarrassed when questioned about her abilities and is sensitive to his approval. 33

She is emotionally direct: she cries over the loss of a favored puppet, smiles easily when comforted, and openly expresses her belief that Chu Ge is a good person. She also becomes increasingly playful, calling him “Pillar” rather than “Master” once they grow familiar. 39 94
