Background / History

An Qing was a senior student in Jinling University’s music department and had already become a somewhat famous female star when Ling Yun attended the university. During his junior year, Ling Yun encountered her drunk near the bar where he worked part-time; the two spent the night together. An Qing was engaged at the time, investigated Ling Yun afterward, and concluded that their meeting had been accidental rather than a scheme against her. 5

Refusing to become a sacrifice in an arranged marriage, she fled her family’s control and secretly gave birth to Ling Yueqian in America. After exhausting her money outside the family’s support, she returned to China to rebuild her career and left Qianqian with Ling Yun when the child was over a year old. She distrusted Ling Yun’s lifestyle and remained highly critical of his parenting in their early calls. 5

Her ties to the An Family remained strained. An Qing later revealed that her father, An Guomin, led An Shi Group, while her grandfather was An Jiansheng and her second grandfather An Jianye.
