History
First Soul Ring Hunt
After four years of island cultivation, Tang Dongfeng reaches level 20 and travels to the forest with Sea Dragon Douluo. Seeking a defensive skill to complement his offense, he discusses suitable beasts before the pair split up to search 5.
During this visit, they rescue Ye Lingling and Qin Ming from a Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear and subsequently escort them back to Heaven Dou City. Tang Dongfeng’s acquired second Soul Ring grants Dark Gold Guard and Dark Gold Flame 9 27 28.
Qian Renxue and the Shrek Confrontation
Qian Renxue comes to the forest while seeking her sixth Soul Ring and attempting to arrange an encounter with Tang Dongfeng. Gu Yuena detects her and Snake Spear Douluo following them; Tang Dongfeng exposes Qian Renxue’s identity, and Sea Dragon Douluo defeats her guardian 40 41 42 43.
The group later encounters Shrek Academy. Tang Dongfeng renews his conflict with Tang San, while Sea Dragon Douluo engages Tang Hao. Their battle transforms a one-li stretch of forest into an ocean-like field through Land of the Ocean, and Tang Dongfeng launches his nuclear-fusion Fire Lotus at Tang San 53 54 57.
Soul Spirit Negotiations
Following his tournament victory, Tang Dongfeng returns with Na’er to seek her second Soul Ring. The visit leads to a confrontation with Xiong Jun and negotiations with Di Tian, Da Ming, and Er Ming 126 130 136.
Tang Dongfeng explains that his Soul Spirit Technique requires six Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts to sacrifice themselves while preserving their souls and consciousness. Di Tian considers the technique a possible future for the Soul Beast race and gives Tang Dongfeng his Inverse Scale to block his connection with the God Realm 137.
Spirit Pagoda Cooperation
After gaining control of Spirit Hall, Tang Dongfeng directs Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo to contact Di Tian through the Inverse Scale. Di Tian is to cooperate with them in establishing the Spirit Pagoda, linking the forest’s leadership to the promotion of Soul Spirits and artificial Soul Rings 181 198.
Bi Ji’s Sacrifice
Tang Dongfeng later returns to request Bi Ji as his sixth Soul Spirit. She agrees in the hope that he will resolve the conflict between humans and Soul Beasts, and he promises to work toward that goal 224 225.
Afterward, Tang Dongfeng absorbs the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger’s Soul Ring and External Soul Bone. His subsequent growth also strengthens his Soul Spirits, including Bi Ji and Er Ming 226 230.
