Qian Renxue was raised by her grandfather, Qian Daoliu, rather than by her biological mother, Bibi Dong. She resents Bibi Dong, regarding their blood connection as only a “debt of childbirth,” though she later becomes conflicted after learning the circumstances surrounding her parents and her father’s death. 154 157 158

She operates in the Heaven Dou Empire under the identity of Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. While planning to eventually leave behind a nominal puppet empire, she remains protective of Xue Ke, whom she watched grow up and does not want drawn into political conflict. 38
