Background / History

Wang Lin began as a Hengyue Sect disciple known as Wang Mazi. After trading Spirit Liquid for pills with Qin Hao, he rapidly reached Foundation Establishment. When his master, Sun Dazhu, attempted to seize his presumed treasure using a Spirit Binding Array, Wang Lin destroyed the formation, killed him, burned the body with a Fireball Technique, and left Hengyue Sect to become a rogue cultivator. Situ Nan supported this decision and promised to guide him. 8

At Jue Ming Valley, the slaughter of the Wang Family drove Wang Lin to develop Ice-attribute Extreme Realm Spiritual Power. He confronted Teng Huayuan over his parents' souls, using the Thousand Illusions Transformation to appear as an Early Nascent Soul cultivator despite his actual Foundation Establishment Middle Stage cultivation. 18 During his escape, he froze Teng Huayuan with Blue Ice Flash, stole his storage bag, and severed his own arm to survive its self-destruction. Teng Huayuan ultimately killed Wang Lin at the Outer Realm Battlefield passage, but Situ Nan used his last strength to send Wang Lin's divine sense and the Heavenly Reversal Bead into the passage. 19

Wang Lin later returned to Huofen Kingdom while possessing Ma Liang's body. Qin Hao returned the souls of the Wang Family in exchange for Spirit Liquid, allowing Wang Lin to focus on recovery and future revenge. 22 At the War God Temple, he sought a map to Zhao Kingdom, artifact-refining methods to repair his Green Small Sword, and the Divine Dao Art to prepare for Core Formation. 25

Qin Hao subsequently helped Wang Lin overcome the Extreme Realm's obstruction to forming a Nascent Soul. Although this assistance saved his breakthrough, Wang Lin became increasingly wary that Qin Hao might covet his Extreme Realm. 38 During the following century in the Land of the Ancient God, Wang Lin received an Ancient God Memory Inheritance, acquired Ink Stone fragments, and obtained the Forbidden Banner Refining Method. 53

After reaching Nascent Soul Great Perfection, Wang Lin carried out his revenge against the Teng family. He hunted Teng bloodline members across several sects, hung their corpses from Dragon Sinew, exterminated the Teng family within Hengyue Sect, destroyed Teng Family City, and personally killed Teng Huayuan. He also killed Tongtian Tower Envoy Lin Yi with the Golden Light Giant divine ability. 74 75

Following later setbacks caused by the God Shooting Chariot's backlash and Sun Tai's seal, Wang Lin chose to enter the Soul Refining Sect to study soul-banner crafting. 109 Situ Nan later used Wang Lin's body to defeat the Corpse Yin Sect's leadership and seize a suitable Corpse Puppet for himself. 152 153 Wang Lin and Situ Nan eventually departed Vermilion Bird Star, with Wang Lin intending to take Tian Yunzi as his master. 157

As Tian Yunzi's Purple Lineage Seventh Brother, Wang Lin gained influence through both his own strength and his association with Qin Hao. He fought Zhao Xing Sha at Tianyun Sect, obtained Teleportation Divine Ability and the Nine Revolutions Immortal Refining Art, and sought opportunities in the Demon Spirit Land to revive his parents. 169 170

Wang Lin later learned that Tian Yunzi cultivated by devouring his disciples. After accepting Bai Wei's thread of utmost yang, he openly defied Tian Yunzi and became the target of Finger Usurps Heavenly Fate. Qin Hao intervened to save him, and Wang Lin completely severed ties with Tian Yunzi. 209 281

Within the Demon Spirit Land, Wang Lin's surname made him essential to Immortal Emperor Qing Lin's rescue. Personality

Wang Lin is cautious, calculating, and difficult to deceive. He recognized Sun Dazhu's malicious intent before the elder acted, refused the poisoned-looking tea, and immediately prepared to retaliate if attacked. 8 He also uses deception and decisive self-sacrifice in battle, as demonstrated by his Thousand Illusions Transformation, Blue Ice Flash ambush, and willingness to sever his own arm to escape Teng Huayuan. 18 19

The destruction of the Wang Family made revenge and the resurrection of his parents central to his cultivation. He showed virtually no mercy toward the Teng bloodline, though he spared Teng Xiuxiu because she carried Wang Zhuo's child. 74 Later, his desire to revive his parents motivated his interest in the Demon Spirit Land and its connection to the Upper World. 170
