Liu Mei first appears as a purple-robed disciple of the Xuandao Sect fleeing Joyous Union Sect cultivators after her sect's destruction. Qin Hao saves her pursuers' victims, recognizes her rare innate Water Spirit Root or Water Spirit Body, and accepts her as his disciple. She immediately chooses the safety of serving under him. 9

Qin Hao brings her into the Chaos Bead Space, where accelerated time and abundant resources allow her cultivation to advance rapidly. By the time he next visits her during the Outer Realm Battlefield period, she has reached Foundation Establishment and regards him as her only remaining kin. 17 21 Centuries spent in the sealed space later cultivate her longing for Qin Hao into the Infatuation Artistic Conception, enabling her Spirit Transformation breakthrough. 50

Her identity crisis begins when Qin Hao releases her from the Chaos Bead Space. The Divine Sense Imprint of Vermilion Bird Country Liu Mei attempts to reclaim her body, revealing that the Xuandao Sect Liu Mei is one of her clones.
