Background
Lu Chuan was originally a salaryman from another world. He drowned while trying to save another person, then awakened in the body of a sixteen-year-old boy of the same name in the Great Gan Dynasty. The original Lu Chuan had been weak, frequently bullied, and drowned while attempting to catch fish for Xinghua. 1
He awakens during a drought that has left the Lu family close to starvation. Rather than relying on wealth-making knowledge from his previous life, he concludes that prosperity without personal strength would only make his family a target. He therefore chooses the Martial Way, aided by a weapon-based Golden Finger. 1 9
Lu Chuan enters Kaishandao Martial Arts Hall as an Outer Disciple under Master Zheng. His mid-lower grade Bone Root is considered ordinary, but he compensates through weapon collection, disciplined practice, hunting, and costly qi-and-blood resources. 15 17 19
Appearance
By the time he breaks through the Blood Pass, Lu Chuan has grown from roughly 1.7 meters to nearly 1.8 meters. His previously fitting clothes become too short, while his body develops the lean musculature of a Martial Artist. 31
- Tall for his age, exceeding 1.8 meters after his early cultivation breakthroughs. 31
- Carries himself with a calm, often expressionless demeanor during confrontations. 21 58
- Frequently wears or carries martial equipment, particularly a saber and later a bow. 38 74 76
Personality
Lu Chuan is pragmatic, resourceful, and intensely protective of his family. He recognizes early that weakness invites exploitation, motivating his decision to pursue martial arts even when his family can barely afford the tuition and food needed to support it. 9 19
He is cautious about exposing abnormal growth or valuable possessions. He deliberately conceals his saber proficiency, hides his Martial Artist breakthrough to avoid suspicion surrounding Wang Kun's death, covers his face while selling the Mountain Lord's corpse, and later leaves Qinghe County to evade the Meng Family. 17 30 36 73
Despite this ruthlessness toward dangerous enemies, Lu Chuan repays kindness and intervenes when others are abused. He pays a neighbor's Mountain Tax in return for past help, hunts the Mountain Lord partly to obtain Tiger Bone for a fellow disciple, and draws his saber against Tang Xingcheng to protect Wang Xiaochuan's daughter. 30 33 57
