Her exceptional talent made her the disciple closest to Master Zheng, despite being the hall's second Formal Disciple 20 23.

Demon Suppression Division Appointment
Master Zheng assigns Su Tang, Jiang Hao, and Lu Chuan to assist the Demon Suppression Division. During the investigation into Wang Xiaochuan's death, she witnesses Tang Xingcheng attempting to assault Wang's daughter. Although initially conflicted by the connection between their families, she resolves to intervene; Lu Chuan acts first, and Su Tang lends him the Wild Goose Feather Saber to finish the duel 56 57 58.
She then gives Commander Huang an unembellished account of the incident, preventing Tang Xingcheng and Meng Wei from framing Lu Chuan 59.
Wuyin Village Investigation
Assigned to investigate reports of a River Demon, Su Tang enters Wuyin Village separately while the others pose as travelers. By disguising herself as a drowning outsider, she gains access to a villager's home and begins uncovering the village's fear, missing children, and hidden connection to the River God 59 60.
She and Lu Chuan discover that Village Chief Zhou has been refining villagers into Blood Soul Pills for the River God. When Huang Rong prioritizes stealing the pill over protecting the villagers, Su Tang secretly cooperates with Lu Chuan to seek a path to victory and reinforcements 64 65 66.
Battle with the River Demon
Su Tang joins Huang Rong and Jiang Hao in confronting the River God, enduring its water attacks and the assaults of its Puppets 67 69. After Huang Rong abandons the group and the others retreat, she remains alone to prevent the wounded River Demon from massacring Wuyin Village 69 71.
She unleashes Thousand Layer Mountain, inflicting a devastating neck wound at the cost of all her remaining strength. Before the River Demon can kill her, Lu Chuan arrives and severs its head 71.
Aftermath
Too injured to ride alone, Su Tang is carried back to Qinghe County by Lu Chuan. Her reliance on him visibly unsettles her usual composure, though she remains concerned about her injuries reopening 72.
After recovering enough to return to the Martial Arts Hall, she asks Lu Chuan about the Wild Goose Feather Saber and later offers to personally teach him Thousand Layer Mountain 75.
