This time, it was Shane's turn to swear.

Once the cell gate closed and the aliens' footsteps faded into the distance, a pitch-black shadow slipped out of the scrap heap and quickly moved to the entrance of the newly occupied cell.

Then he got a clear look at the three newcomers' faces.

Hearing their voices earlier had already shocked him, but even after confirming it with his own eyes, Shane still found it absurd.

How had these three ended up together?

Wasn't Jason supposed to pull out a gun and put a hole in Joker's head the moment he saw her?

And the most goddamn ridiculous part was that this wasn't even Earth!

Perhaps the lighting inside the cells was too dim. None of them had noticed the big lug lying unconscious from sedation when they passed Shazam's cell.

Jason still wore his red helmet, and around his neck was a collar identical to Shazam's. His head was lowered, his thoughts unreadable.

Wilson, the Dry Cleaners owner who supposedly could become a vessel for an incarnation of Darkseid at any moment, was curled up in a corner, trembling.

There seemed to be a limit on how many people could share a cell, so Joker had been locked up alone next door. She sat on the bed with her shoulders hunched and her slender legs crossed, humming an awful little tune as she surveyed her surroundings.

"What a joke. These aliens provide better cells than Arkham Asylum. When I get back, I'm definitely writing the warden and Batman a letter with some suggestions."

Looking somewhat dispirited, Jason raised his head and slapped the wall.

"You'd better actually have a plan for what comes next, instead of just wanting a vacation on an alien planet!"
