Ding Yumian is an orphan who entered Pearl Academy through her innate talent rather than family wealth or connections. Her Fire Element's attack range is naturally doubled, a gift that initially served to conceal the far more dangerous nature of her Mind Element. 32 36

As a child, her emotional fluctuations could influence everyone within her range; a suicidal impulse could drive affected people to take their own lives. Following a disaster caused by this power, Dean Xiao took her in, concealed her identity, and protected her within Pearl Academy. 36
