Lu Youting is the Lu Family's Second Elder, one of the family's three long-standing elders. She was once the youngest elder and, like the Great Elder before her, oversaw younger members of the family; she specifically recalls having managed the Third Elder in his youth. She believes she will not live as long as the Great Elder and never expected to succeed him. 261

Although much older than Lu Shui, Youting has remained physically a little girl and cannot grow up. She commonly wears a white coat and spends much of her time tending the back-mountain spirit medicine fields. 32 195 261

She manages spirit medicines, treats illnesses and injuries within the family, monitors external threats, and acts when the Lu Family's safety is at stake. Youting proposes two ways to resolve Mu Xue's marriage contract: find a candidate from the Heavenly Pool River or permit Lu Shui to marry Mu Xue. The Great Elder accepts the latter plan. 32

Shore of the Other

Youting accompanies the Lu Family expedition to the Shore of the Other, where she becomes suspicious that the unfolding anomalies are connected to Lu Shui. She confronts the Ice Sea Goddess over the Reincarnation Tree Seedling and defeats the Goddess's avatar with the Grass and Wood Realm and Sun and Moon Cage. 289 292

Discovering Liu Huo's Connection to Lu Shui

After the Great Elder reports that Liu Huo killed a Seventh Tier cultivator, Youting begins connecting Lu Shui's inexplicable survival, concealment, and lack of interest in ordinary inheritances to the Hidden Heaven Sect's mysterious young sect master. 246 308

She later receives confirmation from Ning Xia that Liu Huo belongs to the Lu Family and recognizes the altar project as his counterattack against the Heavenly Three Stars. 482
