Even this alone was enough to make Mikasa, who rarely experienced emotional fluctuations, genuinely happy from the bottom of her heart.
After all, Mikasa had originally believed there was no one else like her in this world, which was why she had firmly taken in the Yeager family—who had adopted her—as her own family.
But now, a glimmer of hope had appeared in what had seemed like a hopeless situation.
Lianye's appearance wouldn't make Mikasa value the Yeager family any less—it was just that, no matter what, having one more familiar person, one more kindred spirit, was always a good thing.
"So, Mr. Lianye, what do you plan to do now? Will you evacuate with us? Or..."
After a few lighter topics, Hannes spoke up. In the brief joy that followed, they were forced to face the panic and chaos that had yet to subside.
In fact, it might never subside.
If possible, Hannes hoped Lianye would evacuate with them. After all, this guy had already shown monster-level strength; traveling together would mean a much higher guarantee of their safety.
But this was just a question. Though he seemed like an elder, Hannes didn't think he could give orders to Lianye.
Lianye glanced at Eren and his mother. After Mikasa's simple bandaging and a short period of rest, even though it was painful and difficult, Carla Yeager could now move.

"You all go. Shiganshina District has already fallen. The only way to escape now is to run to Wall Rose."
He said calmly. Hannes couldn't help but freeze for a moment. Though he hadn't really expected Lianye—despite his connection through Mikasa—to act like a devoted babysitter and protect the four of them, the feeling of dashed hopes still left him stunned.
"And you?"
As the group regrouped and prepared to head toward Wall Rose, Mikasa suddenly turned and spoke. She wasn't disappointed that Lianye wouldn't be traveling with them; she was simply curious about his next move.
For someone who was a "kindred spirit" like herself, she was somewhat concerned.
"Me?"
Lianye let out a noncommittal light laugh, turning his head back at a forty-five-degree angle, his gaze meeting Mikasa's as she also looked back.
"I'm going to take their (the Titans') heads."
With that, Lianye leaped in a single bound and quickly disappeared from Mikasa and the others' sight.
Withdrawing her gaze from where Lianye had vanished, Mikasa and Eren followed Hannes as they set off toward Wall Rose to evacuate.
Though they had only met briefly twice, Mikasa had a feeling that one day, she would see her "kindred spirit" again. And that day was not far off.
So, for now, the most important thing for her was to survive—no matter how difficult the path—until that day came.
Lianye did not travel with Mikasa and the others to retreat behind Wall Rose.
Shoving through a sea of fleeing refugees, accepting relief rations under the prejudice of the inland people, and then scraping by while enduring gossip and ridicule—how boring would that be?
Even if life inside Wall Rose would be safer, Lianye still chose to stay in Shiganshina District and face the Attack on Titan head-on.
This was different from the lonely, helpless life he had lived before, exposed in the Titan wasteland.
With Wall Rose at his back and using the human city as a staging ground, Lianye could more calmly hunt down the Titans roaming the urban areas.
The vast land between the first wall and the second wall would soon become—the Giant Hunting Ground of the Pride Stalker!
