"Hm?" Lianye asked with interest. "What game mode is this? Is it new?"

Beneath the original ranked mode, a game option called "Infinite Mode" had appeared. It was displayed in a vivid red, somewhat glaring to the eye.

"Infinite Mode?" Lianye rubbed his chin. It was not that he was deliberately putting on an air of maturity; it was simply an unconscious habit. "It's not time for Infinite Firepower Mode to start yet, is it? But since it's a new mode, why not give it a try?"

After selecting the scarlet "Infinite Mode," the screen changed. However, instead of the usual blue game-start prompt—(Yes, No)—an entirely new dialog box appeared.

"Do you want to know the meaning of life? Do you want to... truly live?" Though the words were small, for some reason, Lianye found them rather glaring.

"This..." Lianye tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Is this the same opening as Infinite Horror?" Having spent plenty of time online, he had some familiarity with the masterpiece Infinite Horror.

Could it be real? Lianye did not know.

And another question: was he despairing over his current life?

"No. I'm quite satisfied with this kind of life. At the very least, I get to stay by my sister's side every day, live with her, and help chase away the men who crowd around her." His sister often asked how he felt about his current life, and Lianye always gave her this same stock answer.

Still, while he did not feel despair, it was true that he found things somewhat boring.

"Life really is a garbage game." Lianye had felt this way ever since he watched his childhood friend die tragically in a car accident, while he himself had no option to "reload a save" or anything of the sort. Then, shortly afterward, came the news that his parents had died in a car accident as well.

The cruelty of life lay in the fact that there was only one chance. There was no reloading a save.

Lianye gently moved the mouse and licked his lips. "A prank, or something else? Let me give it a try."

"Yes!" He clicked the option.

The instant he pressed confirm, a tremendous suction force suddenly erupted from the flickering computer.

"If this is real..." As his body was dragged along by an irresistible force, Lianye thought calmly, "then I'm sorry, Sis. You've taken care of me for so long since the day we first met. I'll repay that debt in my next life."

Well, well, the subject matter was still this, but it would be an entirely new book. Every story had a beginning and an end. If it could not have a good ending, then all one could do was start over from zero, like a time loop, and seek a way toward a happy ending.

Attack on Titan

He felt his body break free from the irresistible force and land lightly on a patch of ground.

Lianye opened his tightly shut eyes and looked around, examining the world he had just arrived in.

The system always came at the most abrupt moments. Even Lianye, who had just experienced one of the greatest miracles in the world, still felt somewhat uneasy when he heard the voice suddenly echoing deep within his mind.

"Ding-dong. Host has arrived in the first dimensional world—Attack on Titan."

As though answering Lianye's doubts, the voice in his mind said this, only to raise even more questions.

The world of Titans seemed to be simply divided into two regions: the Inside Wall Area and the Outside Wall Area. The scenery in those two areas was vastly different. Inside the walls naturally lay the broad lands where humans lived and worked, along with the districts inhabited by some of humanity. While they were not particularly prosperous, neither were they so desolate as to be devoid of human traces.

Outside the walls, however, there were vast grasslands dotted with scattered forests. The entire Outside Wall Area was almost entirely withered yellow, bleak and desolate. The endless yellow plains, so vast that their borders could not be seen at all, seemed to be everything in this outside world. The scorching sun relentlessly baked the earth, making the dry yellow grass seem as though it might catch fire at any moment.

As far as his eyes could see, there was almost nothing but boundless yellow grassland. Lianye had not spotted any Titans for the time being, but according to the setting of Attack on Titan, Titans were everywhere outside the walls. He could not afford to let down his guard.

"This is the Outside Wall Area, right?" Taking another deep breath, Lianye carefully recalled what little he still remembered about the plot of the Titan world. Being forcibly transported into an anime world he had watched before was an enormous stroke of luck for him. Knowing the plot could put someone in a relatively safe position; at the very least, it made it easier to know how to advance or retreat in certain situations.

However, if the progress of this cycle world continued, Lianye would be completely in the dark. This anime had reached a small conclusion around episode twelve, so he had not continued watching it at the time.

"Thinking back on it now, I really should have read the entire manga too." Lianye gritted his teeth in slight frustration.
