##DONE## Chapter 35: One Day
"Fear the Void."
Having regrouped, Kha'Zix once again vanished into the Void during its assault, rendering it invisible to normal sight and locking it down as an unseen hunter.
But this ability didn't stop there. Because it ambushed from within the Void, the Void Predator roamed the seams between realms. Even if attacked, the vast majority of its energy would dissipate into the other side of the Void.
This was incredibly powerful. It meant an ultimate assassin could possess defensive capabilities no less than a tank, allowing them to engage enemies in close combat without reservation, even fighting to the death. In such exchanges, Kha'Zix held an absolute advantage because a significant portion of the damage it sustained would be cleverly unloaded into the Void.
Lian Ye, meanwhile, swung the hunting blade in his hand. The crimson glow emanating from the blade's tip was clearly visible even under the moonlit, star-sparse night sky, like a formidable piece of iron just pulled from a blood pool, exuding a chilling aura.
"I see you, bug."
Face to face, who was afraid of whom?
Possessing triple the base attack effect, under the Brutal Reward, 'Ruthless' stabbed forward fiercely.
For the first time, Kha'Zix felt its blood spray out. Even with the tough carapace evolved from the Void Zerg, even with the damage reduction from 'Void Shift,' the hunter's blade still pierced its limb, passing straight through and splashing mutated blood. Accompanied by an enraged shriek, the Void Predator's raised claws also left a long gash in front of Lian Ye.
----Hunting always entailed a considerable degree of brutality.
The saying "prey and hunter are one" doesn't mean they 'live' together; that's just a jest. It means the roles of hunter and prey are interchangeable.
Before the weak humans, Giants were the 'hunters.' But before the ultimate hunter, Giants became 'prey' awaiting slaughter.
And when the ultimate hunter and the ultimate prey met – who was truly the prey, and who had become the hunter could only be determined through a decisive battle.
Just as well-trained members of the Survey Corps could, relying on their ODM Gear, hunt Giants in teams or even individually, countless Survey Corps members had also died at the mouths of Giants during expeditions outside the Walls.
In evenly matched situations, the identities of hunter and prey were constantly shifting.
But this was also the first time Lian Ye had suffered such a severe blow. The attack power of ordinary Giants might even surpass that of the Void Predator, but because they only used simple attacks like slapping with their palms, stomping with their feet, and body slams, their lethality was somewhat lower, and their blunt movements were not difficult to dodge.
Even if he accidentally became overwhelmed by multiple Abnormal Giants and received one or two hits out of helplessness, with the recovery ability enhanced by his Hero Ability, he would quickly be back on his feet.
Among the opponents Lian Ye had encountered so far, only Kha'Zix could create such a difficult situation for him. Perhaps it was the only one from beginning to end.
The Void Predator represented not just an enemy with combat awareness, but a more agile, cunning, and dangerous creature than Giants.
But the same was true for Kha'Zix. Their strengths were too close. This evenly matched, fifty-fifty contest meant neither could gain the upper hand for a time.
Difficulty would make most people retreat, but it didn't mean it would make these two retreat. For true hunters and creatures of the Void, no being could prove they were challenging, and it was only when they lacked formidable opponents to push their limits that they would feel listless.
Therefore, Lian Ye and Kha'Zix should be excited and pleased to have arrived in this world of "Attack on Titan" together, no longer alone. Because their 'fated battle' wasn't just in Valoran, not just in Summoner's Rift, but continued even in the wilderness of another world.
Regardless, they were undoubtedly each other's 'prey' that would be killed 'one day.' This was an undeniable goal.
But as for which day this 'one day' would be, that remained to be discussed. This so-called 'one day' might imply that day would be very difficult to truly arrive, because their strengths would always remain comparable.
Conversely, if Lian Ye succeeded in killing Kha'Zix, adding the Void Predator's fangs to his Bone Tooth Necklace, or if Kha'Zix defeated its nemesis and achieved ultimate evolution, such an outcome might be even more unbearable for both sides than their rivalry continuing indefinitely.
After all, it would mean that in their subsequent hunts, when facing less challenging, low-level creatures, the exhilarating thrill would no longer arise.
"Alright, that's enough for now."
After they separated, exhausted once more, Lian Ye temporarily ceased the engagement, speaking with the casual tone of ending a training session.
