Background / History
Nuoding City
Tang San trained under Yu Xiaogang at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, where he revealed Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls. He used the control technique Mind Splitting to alter the application of Entangling, defeating Xiao Chenyu at Rank 16. Yu Xiaogang increasingly focused his attention on Tang San, leaving Xiao Chenyu largely as a sparring partner. 22
Xiao Chenyu's later Martial Soul Evolution turned their rivalry around. His Fire Wolf Martial Soul countered Tang San's plant-type Blue Silver Grass, repeatedly defeating him and driving Tang San to seek a way to evolve his own Martial Soul. 30 31
Tang Hao forced Wang Qi to assist Tang San's evolution. Wang Qi restrained Tang San and Yu Xiaogang during the negotiation, then extracted and fused Tang San's Blue Silver Emperor and Datura Snake bloodlines. The process transformed Tang San's Blue Silver Grass but weakened its Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. 32 35
Injury and Recovery
After consuming the Wind Thunder Fruit, Tang San became a three-ring Soul Elder before turning eleven; the fruit also gave his Clear Sky Hammer a lightning attribute. 82
Seeking a decisive control skill, Tang San attempted to absorb a ten-thousand-year fourth Soul Ring despite inadequate Spiritual Power. The attempt devastated his foundation and talent, leaving him dependent on treatment while Yu Xiaogang, Flender, and Liu Erlong sought a solution. 127 128 131
Tang Xiao intervened on Tang San's behalf, investing four Soul Bones in his recovery: inherited Clear Sky Sect right arm and left leg bones, Ah Yin's hundred-thousand-year right leg bone, and a valuable torso bone. Tang San later recovered to level 47 and successfully obtained his ten-thousand-year fourth Soul Ring. 133 137 161
Appearance
Tang San's appearance changed substantially after his bloodline fusion. His formerly ordinary features became sharper, his darker complexion turned fair, and his short dark-blue hair shifted toward dark purple. 35
- Purple-tinged, Datura Snake-like Blue Silver Grass vines rather than ordinary grass. 35
- Later described as gentle-featured, though his gaze became notably firm after his years of training. 200
- Wears the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges belt, which carries a dark-green jade pendant. 154
Personality
Tang San presents himself as restrained and low-profile, but he is deeply competitive and strongly desires recognition. He generally avoids acting without confidence of success, yet humiliation—particularly at Wang Qi's hands—repeatedly drives him toward riskier methods of advancement. 152 166
He is fiercely determined to regain lost power and protect those he considers family. His concern for Xiao Wu, gratitude toward Tang Xiao, and loyalty to Yu Xiaogang motivate much of his cultivation, though his desire to surpass Wang Qi also leads him to contemplate crippling his rival through undetectable secret techniques. 148 158 184
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass as his primary Martial Soul and the Clear Sky Hammer as his second. His Twin Martial Souls are the foundation of his long-term potential, particularly the possibility of attaching high-age rings to the Clear Sky Hammer after strengthening his body. 117 125
- Mutated Blue Silver Grass — After Wang Qi's bloodline fusion, it became a purple Datura Snake-like vine with improved sharpness, toughness, flexibility, and resilience. 35
- Restricted potential — Wang Qi judges that the mutation damaged the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline enough that the Blue Silver Grass may stop at Soul Douluo without an exceptional opportunity. 101
- Clear Sky Hammer — Gains a lightning attribute after Tang San consumes the Wind Thunder Fruit. 82
- Clear Sky Hammer rings — Possesses three black Soul Rings by the time he reaches Soul Emperor cultivation. 150
Blue Silver Grass Soul Skills
Tang San specializes in battlefield control and low-consumption plant-type techniques.
- First Soul Skill: Entangling — Binds targets with Blue Silver Grass; Tang San learned to apply it through Mind Splitting rather than simple direct control. 22
- Second Soul Skill: Parasitism — Plants Blue Silver Grass on or near an opponent for follow-up restraint. 127 158
- Third Soul Skill: Splitting — Provides additional utility and control options. 127
- Fourth Soul Skill: Blue Silver Cage — Instantly forms steel-like cages for trapping enemies or protecting allies. 160
- Fifth Soul Skill: Blue Silver Sky Devourer — Summons a massive Sky Devourer Python for powerful restraint; it is his strongest control skill but cannot withstand Wang Qi's near-Extreme Fire flames. 160
- Sixth Soul Skill: Inexhaustible Growth — Rapidly grows Blue Silver Grass with little Soul Power, though the accelerated vines wither quickly. 160
- Limitation — His Blue Silver Grass is severely countered by high-quality fire attributes, especially Wang Qi's flames. 157 160
Mysterious Heaven Treasure Codex
Tang San possesses techniques inherited from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Codex, which he uses alongside his Martial Souls. 166 167
- Mysterious Heaven Skill — His core cultivation method. 35 167
- Purple Extreme Demon Eye — Enhances perception and allows him to observe others' cultivation more closely. 121 160
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Self-created movement technique. 121 166
- Mysterious Jade Hand — Defensive hand technique. 121 166
- Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — Grappling technique. 166
- Hidden weapons techniques — Uses Tang Sect throwing and overdraw methods in combat. 121 179
Clear Sky Sect Techniques
- Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — A hammer technique that builds momentum through successive strikes; Tang San attempts to use it against Wang Qi. 160
- Exploding Ring — A high-risk Clear Sky Sect secret art considered among Tang San's final methods for boosting his combat power. 178
Soul Bones and Physical Strength
Tang San's recovery and later combat strength are supported by four powerful Soul Bones. 133 161
- Clear Sky Sect inherited right arm bone — Over fifty thousand years old. 133 161
- Clear Sky Sect inherited left leg bone — Over fifty thousand years old. 133 161
- Hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone — Left by Ah Yin; enables flight during his battle with Wang Qi. 133 160 161
- Torso bone — Greatly strengthens his physique and contributes to his exceptional physical condition. 161
Equipment / Items
- Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Storage belt worn at his waist. 154
- Dark-green jade pendant — Carried on the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges and offered as a potential wager against Wang Qi. 154
- Mysterious Heaven Treasure Codex — The inheritance containing his cultivation methods, hidden weapons, movement techniques, and secret arts. 166 167
Relationships
- Yu Xiaogang — Teacher and father figure who trains Tang San's control abilities, guides his cultivation, and seeks a cure when his foundation is damaged. Tang San considers himself Yu Xiaogang's proudest disciple. 22 131 148
- Tang Hao — Father. Tang Hao values Tang San's Twin Martial Soul potential and secures the Wind Thunder Fruit for him, though his actions repeatedly place Tang San amid Clear Sky Sect conflicts. 33 82 125
- Tang Xiao — Paternal uncle and Clear Sky Sect Master. He funds Tang San's recovery, protects him personally, provides resources for his explosive advancement, and prepares him to support the sect. 133 148 153
- Xiao Wu — Tang San's childhood companion and the person he most wants to rescue. He learns she is a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast and vows to bring her back from the Star Dou Great Forest, while Xiao Wu increasingly reconsiders her feelings toward him. 148 154
- Wang Qi — Rival and obstacle. Wang Qi engineered Tang San's Martial Soul transformation, later overwhelms him in their exchange match, and becomes the source of Tang San's major psychological block. 35 160 166
- Xiao Chenyu — Early sparring rival. Tang San first defeats him through improved Blue Silver Grass control, then suffers repeated losses after Xiao Chenyu's Fire Wolf Martial Soul evolves. 22 30 31
- Jin Lang — Blue Tyrant Academy vice-captain and fellow competitor. Their relationship is strained by conflicting loyalties and disputes over team leadership. 117 157
- Flender and Liu Erlong — Blue Tyrant Academy mentors who help oversee Tang San's recovery, Soul Ring hunt, and later challenge against Wang Qi. 127 131 150
Story Role / Major Arcs
Rise as Blue Tyrant Academy's Captain
After recovering from his damaged foundation, Tang San receives extensive resources and protection from Tang Xiao. In less than a month, he rises from level 34 to level 63, obtains six rings for Blue Silver Grass and three for the Clear Sky Hammer, and becomes captain of the Blue Tyrant Academy Team. 148 150
Challenge Against Wang Qi
Tang San challenges Wang Qi in an academy exchange match to claim the top position on the Heavenly Pride Ranking. He covers the arena in Blue Silver Grass, deploys Blue Silver Cage and Blue Silver Sky Devourer, then reveals the Clear Sky Hammer after his plant Martial Soul is incinerated. Wang Qi defeats him with Supreme Dominance, leaving Tang San shaken by the difference in their strength. 158 160 161 166
Soul Master Competition
Tang San eventually overcomes his fear of Wang Qi enough to continue competing. In the later melee, he and Wang Qi indirectly cooperate against the Spirit Hall Team; Tang San uses the Clear Sky Hammer and hidden-weapon methods while Wang Qi buys him time. 167 179
Slaughter City, Moonlight Pavilion, and Sea God Island
After further waterfall training, Tang San chooses the dangerous Slaughter City path rather than Tang Xiao's safer route. He survives five years there, then spends three years at Moonlight Pavilion tempering his killing intent and emotional control. He subsequently travels to Sea God Island for divine trials, reaching Soul Saint cultivation within three years. 187 200 203
