History
Founding and early wars
The First Hokage founded and named Konohagakure with the hope that it would flourish like a great tree whose shade protected its people. His Wood Release established Konoha as the strongest hidden village after he defeated the other four great nations; he later distributed the Nine Tailed Beasts in pursuit of peace. 160 186 237
Konoha won the Second Shinobi World War despite losing the Second Hokage. Its victory did not end foreign ambitions toward the fertile Land of Fire, which remained surrounded by the other four great nations. 186
Third Shinobi World War
Sunagakure began the Third Great Ninja War with a surprise assault on a Konoha outpost. Konoha simultaneously faced pressure from Kirigakure, which infiltrated the Land of Fire and sought to disrupt Konoha's rear logistics, and Iwagakure, which attacked through the Land of Grass. 8 11 45
To prevent a three-front war, Konoha forced an early decisive campaign against Sunagakure at Kikyo Mountain. Its forces recovered Sakumo Hatake's body, defeated Sunagakure at great cost, and ultimately ended the war as the victor. 35 40 58
Postwar tensions and internal conflict
Following the war, Konoha hosted a Chunin Exam that covertly served as a “Genius Hunting Plan” targeting promising ninja from rival villages. Minato Namikaze was publicly announced as the Fourth Hokage during the exam finals. 58 62
During the Nine-Tails incident, the village prohibited the Uchiha Clan from joining the fighting and confined many of its combat-capable members at the Military Police Force headquarters.
