After Yamanaka Tohru made a scene at Root, Mitokado Homura, Utatane Koharu, and Shimura Danzō went to the Third Hokage's office early the next morning.
"Hiruzen, do you know what happened last night?" Mitokado Homura cut straight to the point.
"What happened?" The Third Hokage feigned ignorance.
Actually, the Third Hokage had already learned about Yamanaka Tohru's visit to Root the previous day. After much hesitation, he decided to turn a blind eye.
The Third Hokage had made his position clear when he rejected Danzō's proposal.
The Yamanaka Clan had always been firm supporters of the Hokage. With a genius like Yamanaka Tohru emerging from their ranks, the Third Hokage would never let Danzō target the clan.
Danzō was furious with the Third Hokage. After taking a deep breath to calm himself, he said, "I'm talking about Yamanaka Tohru trespassing into Root yesterday."
"Oh! That! I know about it. It was just a child fooling around because he didn't know any better. You're all his elders; you should be a little more forgiving." The Third Hokage smiled, sidestepping the issue.
"Hiruzen! You're calling trespassing into Root and insulting Danzō childish mischief?" Utatane Koharu asked, clearly angered by the Third Hokage's attitude.
"Koharu, don't get upset. It's a minor matter, and Root has already been disbanded. How could anyone trespass into Root?"
"But Hiruzen, Root's files are still there. Yamanaka Tohru may have broken in to steal mission records." Danzō accused Tohru of trying to steal Konoha's secrets.
"You're overthinking it, Danzō. Yamanaka Tohru is an inheritor of the Will of Fire. He wouldn't do something like that." The Third Hokage dismissed Danzō's claim.
