From Kushina's account, Yamanaka Tohru learned that her relationship with the Nine-Tails had indeed improved greatly over the past year and a half, especially after they reached an agreement.
Their agreement was this: under no circumstances would the Nine-Tails take over Kushina's body, and Kushina would willingly undo the seal.
Kushina was an orphan of the Uzumaki Clan, born with a special kind of Chakra that could suppress the Nine-Tails. Even so, the instant she undid the seal, the beast's enormous negative emotions flooded into her consciousness and sent her berserk.
That hadn't been the Nine-Tails' intention, and he hadn't taken the opportunity to seize Kushina's body. He'd thought that once Kushina came to, she would seal him again, but she hadn't. Instead, she'd said she trusted him.
That had been the turning point in their relationship. Later, Kushina said she wanted to give the Nine-Tails a name. Faced with all sorts of bizarre suggestions, he didn't want to be called any of them, so he reluctantly told her his real name.
"Kushina! Let this kid in. I have something to ask him." Kushina had been telling Yamanaka Tohru how she'd become friends with the Nine-Tails when she suddenly heard its voice.
Yamanaka Tohru, meanwhile, was completely stunned. One remark from him, the little butterfly, had changed Kushina's attitude toward the Nine-Tails. She'd truly accepted it, and it had actually become friends with Naruto's mother.
Yamanaka Tohru was a little excited. With Kushina and the Nine-Tails so close, could the Night of the Nine-Tails be averted?
"Tohru, Kurama wants to see you."
"See me?" Kushina's words startled Yamanaka Tohru. This time, the Nine-Tails wasn't sealed away, and he wondered if it might swallow him whole the moment he went in.
Trusting Kushina, Yamanaka Tohru nodded. As before, she led him
