Alvin was stunned.
Was this some kind of joke? They wanted him to fight Abaddon?!
With skills like his, wouldn't going up against him be suicide?
Sure, Abaddon had been thrashed like a dog in front of the Primarch, but at the end of the day, he was a bona fide Chaos Marshal who had fought his way up from the bottom. The number of bloody battles he'd survived was beyond anything an ordinary person could imagine!
Otherwise, why would the Luna Wolves, the predecessors of the Black Legion, have accepted him?
To sum it all up, there was just one thing to say: Abaddon was genuinely a formidable fighter!
Calgar was impressive, right?
And yet, on Alert Star, Abaddon had nearly hacked him to death. If Calgar's bodyguards hadn't risked their lives to intervene, he wouldn't even have had the chance to lie in the ICU!
He had launched the Thirteen Black Crusades and openly challenged the Imperium time and again. Not only had he survived, he'd thrived. Just think about it: Abaddon was clearly more than just some "clown."
He was cunning, treacherous, and patient.
He was even willing to sacrifice his pride for the sake of his goals. That alone was enough to make him a true "warlord."
Otherwise, how could Abaddon keep bouncing back and forth between Chaos and the Imperium without getting into trouble—and become the Chaos Marshal, the only one since Horus to be chosen by all Four Gods?
He had the ability to pull it off!
And that was exactly why the Primarch had been so eager to set a trap, even using himself as bait, just to kill Abaddon here.
If Abaddon survived, the consequences for the Imperium would be unthinkable.
But clearly, the Four Gods didn't want such a useful "pawn"
