Pit Two.
A group of people came rushing in, shouting.
Unlike the City Guard soldiers, who wore matching uniforms and had stern expressions, this group looked more like a band of ragtag fighters.
Their clothes came in every shape and color, their weapons were all different, and they varied in height and complexion. Their ranks were utterly chaotic.
But the auras they gave off were extremely powerful.
Several in the middle had concentrated life force. They were clearly Official Knights, which was why the City Guard had held back.
"Hal!"
A short man in the crowd shouted:
"No wonder you wouldn't let us in. There's a Forgotten City here, and you were trying to hide it from City Lord Sodan?"
"I only follow Her Highness Mervia's orders." The commander, Hal, spoke in a low voice.
"You're just mercenaries hired by the City Lord to help out, Stanford. The underground isn't a place you should be."
"Haha..." Stanford stepped forward, his face twisted in mockery.
"City Lord Sodan didn't just hire us to clear out the Abnormalities. He also asked us to investigate the recent changes in Black City."
"Hal, what do you think would happen if I told him you'd discovered the Forgotten City and failed to report it?"
"Clatter..." The City Guard soldiers abruptly raised their swords and spears, while the mercenaries tightened their grips on their weapons.
The atmosphere in the square grew tense in an instant.
"Stanford, you filthy, lowborn halfling." Hal's mouth twitched as he glared at the other man.
"Are you threatening me?"
"Hal!"
Stanford parted the crowd. His short frame released a terrifying aura that spread outward like a tangible force.
"You want to die?"
The two glared at each other, and the situation was on the verge of exploding.
