Background / History

Descent from the mountain

Qin Guan was raised by Bukui Daoist, who trained him harshly and later claimed that this strict upbringing was essential to Qin Guan’s achievements 656 1020. Before sending him to Qingzhou, his master left him a marriage contract, a red brocade pouch for emergencies, and the Little Black Tower; the tower immediately merged into Qin Guan’s glabella 1.

Born without a Dantian, Qin Guan initially followed the path of a Martial Cultivator. His greatest ambition was to cultivate the Sword Dao, inspired by stories of Yang Tianni—the ancient martial cultivator who defied this limitation and pioneered sword-martial dual cultivation 5 9.

Yang Tianni’s inheritance

While exploring an ancient secret realm, Qin Guan broke Li Zang’s formation and inherited a remnant of Yang Tianni’s Huan Yuan Sword Art 21. The art offered him a route to Sword Dao through the One Hundred and Eight Acupoints, but demanded exceptional physical strength, Battle Gate cultivation, and Sword Intent 21 116.

His pursuit eventually led him to Yang Tianni directly. Yang Tianni taught him that strength alone could not tame a demonic sword or establish a true Sword Dao; Qin Guan needed an invincible state of mind and the resolve to conquer with his heart 289. At Burial Sword Mountain, he endured the Sword Dao imprints of 108 Imperial Swords, clarified his Guardian’s Thought, and completed the Huan Yuan Sword Art 578 579.

Xuantian Sect and the Blood Sword Alliance

After his Bone Root Stone test exploded, Qin Guan was judged to have no Dantian and was initially regarded as a waste. Great Strength Peak nevertheless accepted him as a Martial Cultivator 200. He rapidly became one of Xuantian Sect’s most formidable disciples, defeating challengers from Heaven Sword Peak, mentoring fellow Great Strength Peak disciples, and earning the trust of Bai Fuzi and Bei Ming 214 236.

Bei Ming later asked Qin Guan to lead the Blood Sword Alliance while remaining in Xuantian Sect. Qin Guan accepted, defeated opposing factions, and was formally recognized by the alliance’s elders and disciples 278 315.

Later cultivation and Great Dao

Qin Guan’s cultivation increasingly combined martial arts, Sword Dao, Chaos Power, physical-body refinement, and Great Dao power. Yang Tianni later explained that the Huan Yuan Sword Art’s acupoints, Battle Gates, Sword Meridian, and Great Dao cultivation could be fused into a single system: nurturing the sword with the Dao and carrying the Dao with the sword 941 1000.

Although he was offered the path of a Realm Lord, Qin Guan refused it. He chose instead to continue cultivating independently and to protect the people he cared about 1001.

Personality

Qin Guan is driven by an unusually stubborn desire to grow stronger. Even when he lacked a Dantian and faced a path considered impossible for Martial Cultivators, he refused to abandon his dream of becoming a sword cultivator 9 21.

He is direct, bold, and often provocative in battle. He regularly meets threats head-on, takes valuable weapons from stronger opponents, and shows little mercy toward enemies who endanger his family or allies 50 106 567.

Despite his ruthlessness toward enemies, Qin Guan is generous with those he accepts. He gives rare cultivation techniques and resources to Nan Qiao, Nan Rou, Bai You, allies, disciples, demonic beasts, and even entire groups living in the Little Black Tower 27 449 580 888. He also shares his personal cultivation insights rather than keeping his methods entirely to himself 596 1009 1017.

His Sword Dao is founded on protection rather than detachment:

“No matter your eternal imperial might, it cannot shake my Guardian's Thought. Even if all heavens sink, it cannot change my Invincible Heart. This is my Sword Dao!” 579

Abilities & Skills

Sword-Martial Dual Cultivation

Qin Guan is a Martial Cultivator without a Dantian who uses the Huan Yuan Sword Art to cultivate Spiritual Power, sword qi, and Sword Dao through his acupoints.

  • Opens and expands the One Hundred and Eight Acupoints as substitutes for a conventional Dantian and Qi Sea 39 116.
  • Uses the Sword Meridian to convert Spiritual Power into sword qi; merging True Dragon Sword Intent further strengthens that sword qi 121.
  • Can fuse Battle Gate Gang Qi, sword qi, Chaos Power, and Great Dao Power into his attacks 267 1000.
  • Requires massive resources because each expanded acupoint must store and refine Spiritual Power 39 970.
  • His body must be strong enough to endure his own output; otherwise, excessive power causes recoil or forces him back to a weaker state 267 563.

Huan Yuan Sword Art

Yang Tianni’s supreme technique is the foundation of Qin Guan’s Sword Dao.

  • Its first stages establish the 108 acupoints and Sword Meridian 255.
  • Its remnant volumes respectively emphasized speed, strength, and the fusion of all methods into a personal Sword Dao 579.
  • The completed art distributes recoil through the 108 acupoints, compensating for the physical strain of high-level sword techniques 581.
  • It enables a Martial Cultivator to use Sword Dao without a Dantian, a path regarded as nearly impossible for ordinary martial cultivators 9 317.

Sword Intent and Sword Dao

Qin Guan possesses the True Dragon Sword Intent, which was already strong enough to impress Li Zang when he received the Huan Yuan inheritance 21.

  • Refined and absorbed Thunder Dragon Sword Intent to strengthen his True Dragon Sword Intent 239.
  • Developed an Invincible Sword Heart through the 108 Imperial Sword trials at Burial Sword Mountain 578 579.
  • Wields Invincible Great Dao Power, allowing his sword gang to withstand combined attacks from Seventeenth Realm experts 506.
  • Can enter unity between man and sword after attaining Sword Immortal Realm, greatly elevating his control and destructive power 498.
  • Pursues Man-Sword Unity with Zhan Chi as the highest state of sword cultivation 569.

Sword Drawing Art and Sword Control

Qin Guan’s Sword Drawing Art was taught by his master and later refined through Yang Tianni’s guidance 289 290.

  • Uses sudden, decisive sword-drawing strikes capable of defeating opponents before they can complete their techniques 423.
  • Controls flying swords for travel and combat, emphasizing speed, accuracy, and ruthlessness 198 317.
  • Cleared Xue Wanzhong’s flying-sword formation through sustained sword-control training 339.
  • Can cultivate within Zhan Chi’s Sword Realm, an independent Sword Dao world with accelerated time flow and favorable conditions for sword comprehension 851 852.

Martial Cultivation and Battle Gates

As a Martial Cultivator, Qin Guan uses Gang Qi and physical force rather than a conventional Dantian.

  • Employs powerful close-combat techniques such as Fist Bone Impact and Dark Ox 50 101.
  • The Killing Gate gives his Gang Qi increasing ferocity as combat continues 214 289.
  • The Life Gate can restore severed limbs and heal serious injuries by manipulating life force 102.
  • Can teach foundational martial skills, including stability, speed, ruthlessness, and using an opponent’s force against them 740.

Chaos Body and Chaos Qi

Qin Guan possesses the Chaos Body, a rare constitution capable of integrating otherwise incompatible forms of power 278 941.

  • Supplies Chaos Qi to sustain and heal the Little Black Tower 116 120.
  • Allows him to activate exceptional cultivation methods and integrate multiple power systems 392 941.
  • His Chaos Qi can benefit others’ cultivation, including Zi Qing’s Star Power and the Great Dao growth of Nan Rou and Bai You 851 950.
  • His constitution makes him a target for factions seeking his Chaos Origin 550 581.

Body Refinement

Qin Guan uses several body-refining methods to ensure his physical body can bear his increasingly destructive power.

  • Cultivated the Eight Desolations Battle Body Art, reaching Battle Blood Initial Awakening through intensive refinement with spirit fruits 404 420.
  • Later cultivated the Undying Asura Divine War Art, which consumes enormous amounts of Blood Qi resources 941 970.
  • Can rapidly recover damaged muscles, bones, and meridians while circulating body-refining arts inside the Little Black Tower 1160.

Formation, Forging, and Practical Skills

  • Possesses the Myriad Formations Return to Origin manual, containing killing, trapping, defensive, and auxiliary formations 184.
  • Demonstrates exceptional learning speed, reading more than two thousand ancient books in one day at the Divine Sword Pavilion 1088.
  • Understands forging materials and sought to create a peerless Rift Heaven Divine Axe 1063.
  • Can cook and carefully seasons roasted meat, a skill he attributes to Nan Rou’s teaching 1127.
