Everyone in the inn's common room turned toward the noise of Robb's fist slamming down.
"Our leader's had too much to drink. The news got him a little worked up, that's all. Nothing to worry about!"
Seeing how terrible Robb looked, Eddard quickly stood and smiled as he explained to the diners in the common room.
"Adam, where did you hear that? Are you sure it's reliable?"
"Exactly. His Grace was a great hero of Westeros when he was young. He wouldn't die so easily."
"I think he's had too much to drink!"
After Eddard's explanation, the diners stopped staring at Robb and began questioning Adam, who had burst through the door and loudly announced the news.
"I swear by the Seven, this news is absolutely true.
It came from inside the tower. Would anyone really dare send out a message just to deceive a knight of House Hogg?"
Hearing the diners' doubts, Adam raised his right hand and swore it was true. Then he immediately turned to the innkeeper and revealed the real reason he had come running over.
"Old Jess, surely this bit of news is worth a big mug of your finest ale?"
The innkeeper knew Adam didn't usually spread false rumors. He nodded, poured a large, foaming mug of ale, and handed it to him.
"Well, then, the king really did die on a whore's belly? That'll make a whole new chapter in the history of the Seven Kingdoms!"
"We could go see the excitement in King's Landing tomorrow. I wonder if they'll hand out free food to the common folk at the king's funeral."
"They probably won't hand out food at the funeral, but there'll surely be a tourney and a feast for the nobles at the new king's coronation. They should serve food then."
