Background / History

Lin Li, an office worker from Hua Country, transmigrated into Robb Stark’s body shortly before Eddard Stark executed a Night’s Watch deserter. Retaining Robb’s memories and martial training, he resolved to prevent the Stark family’s tragic future rather than passively repeat it. He understood his advantages as foreknowledge, noble status, and eventually Blood Wind’s supernatural pact 1 3.

After House Stark found the direwolf litter, Robb named his pup Blood Wind. When the pup bit his bleeding hand, Robb formed the Blood Pact that would shape his rise. The pact gave him access to Blood Wind’s attributes, a telepathic bond, and Blood Contract Points, which could initially be earned through food under limited conditions and later through killing enemies 1 2 6.

Robb’s first independent command came after Bolton deserters massacred Eastwatch Village. He pursued their force, waited until dawn rather than attack with exhausted men, and defeated them with minimal losses. He rewarded his soldiers and compensated the families of the dead, winning respect from Captain Jory and the Winterfell cavalry 4 5 6.

Eddard publicly named Robb his heir in the Wolfs Den Ceremony and established his personal guard, the Pack. Robb strengthened this force through squad drills, swordplay challenges, and personal leadership; it later became known throughout the North as the Wolf Guard 8 9 13.

Appearance

Robb is a handsome, sturdy young man with a mature and heroic bearing. He has blue eyes and reddish-brown hair, and is described as tall enough to match Eddard’s height early in the story 1 3.

  • Blue eyes and reddish-brown hair 3
  • Sturdy build and mature appearance 3
  • Commonly wears noble clothing with a black cloak 46
  • Later fights in close coordination with Blood Wind, often riding the direwolf in battle 80 194
  • Gains ice-themed magical manifestations through his link with Blood Wind, including ice armor and ice crystal weapons 169 208

Personality

Robb is determined to alter the fate he remembers and to protect his family, Winterfell, and the North. His decisions are usually practical rather than bound by traditional honor: he seeks intelligence networks, uses disguises and infiltration, trains troops in coordinated formations, and chooses strategic objectives based on long-term advantage 1 12 50 208.

He is capable of generosity and restraint. He rewards soldiers after victory, offers Osha a negotiated path to freedom, spares Greatjon Umber after forcing him to acknowledge his disobedience, and refuses to murder innocents merely to harvest Blood Contract Points 5 13 15 100.

His pragmatism can become ruthless. He uses threats against Count Rand’s family to compel surrender, orders executions to enforce military discipline, and regards fear as a necessary tool of command 113 195. Robb is also wary of the Blood Pact’s influence, knowing that the red mist can overpower his judgment and turn his desire for victory into bloodlust 33 50.

Abilities & Skills

Blood Pact

Robb’s defining power is his contract with Blood Wind, which lets him perceive the direwolf’s status, emotions, and growth.

  • Shares a telepathic connection with Blood Wind 2
  • Gains Blood Contract Points from hostile kills; Blood Wind’s kills also yield points 6 15
  • Can allocate points to Blood Wind and, after the pact evolves, to wolves within Blood Wind’s pack 3 91 137
  • The pact’s red mist grants Robb stamina, accelerated healing, and physical enhancement 50
  • Excess accumulated points can cause murderous loss of control 33 50

Ice Magic

Through Blood Wind’s evolved Ice Wolf power, Robb gains access to magic associated with ice and cold.

  • Creates ice armor that insulates him against wildfire 169
  • Freezes the Mander River, allowing his army to cross rapidly toward Highgarden 208
  • Forms ice crystal weapons, including spears 208 248
  • Creates an ice-cone domain to counter Aila’s air-draining spell 229

At Blood Wind’s highest documented pre-dragonization threshold, the pact grants Robb advanced transformations and sensory benefits.

  • Gains enhanced dynamic vision and night vision 230
  • Receives comprehensive physical enhancement and improved magic control 230
  • Uses Absolute Control to transform through Blood Wind into a giant werewolf 230
  • Fights alongside Blood Wind against multiple magical and martial opponents 229 230

Swordsmanship and Combat

Robb inherited years of martial training with his new body and continually refined it through war.

  • Proficient in swordsmanship, archery, riding, tactics, and close combat from the outset 1 8
  • Defeats numerous guards and infiltrates Ilyn Payne’s residence while disguised as a drunkard 64
  • Kills Ilyn Payne in a close-quarters fight despite Payne wielding Ice 64
  • Wounds and escapes Gregor Clegane through mobility, persistence, and blood-essence recovery 59
  • Disarms Count Rand after breaking through enemy ranks at Finch Hall 194

Command and Strategy

Robb develops from a local commander into a king capable of directing large-scale campaigns.

  • Organizes the Wolf Guard into six coordinated squads 9
  • Takes nominal command of Winterfell’s 4,300 soldiers and expands their formation training 22
  • Commands more than 31,000 Northern soldiers after being crowned King in the North 88
  • Uses feints, rapid redeployment, river crossings, naval transport, and divided forces to seize tactical advantages 123 169 208
  • Enforces discipline through recorded punishments, executions, and merit-based rewards 100 113

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ice — House Stark’s ancestral greatsword; Robb retrieves it after killing Ilyn Payne and later carries it in a leather-and-black-cloth scabbard 64 65.
  • Longsword and dagger — Used during his early campaigns and infiltration of King’s Landing 3 64.
  • Blood Wind’s wolf armor — Special armor fitted with stirrups, allowing Robb to ride Blood Wind in battle 80.

  • Eddard Stark — Father and early political model. Eddard names Robb heir, but their approaches diverge over intelligence gathering, honor, and power 8 12 70.

  • Klye — Close companion who becomes Lord Hand of the Seven Kingdoms and remains loyal to Robb 296.

King’s Landing Rescue

Disguised as a merchant, Robb travels south to save his family. He infiltrates the city, kills Ilyn Payne, recovers Ice, rescues Sansa, and uses Blood Wind’s howl to disrupt the Lannisters’ control of the Red Keep 50 64 72 85.

Taking the Iron Throne

Robb’s Blood Pact reaches a new peak during the battle for King’s Landing. He survives assassination attempts by Jaime, Beric, Thoros, and Melisandre’s faction, defeats the opposing forces, and sits upon the Iron Throne as the acknowledged ruler of the Seven Kingdoms 229 230.

Final Expedition

Twelve years after the Old God’s defeat, Robb legitimizes Jon as Duke of Winterfell. After learning that his bastard son Robb Magregor has been abducted, he gathers the lords of Westeros and sails for Essos as a blood-red dragon-wolf, declaring his intention to conquer the world and become a god 296.
