Background / History

Jiang Zhiwei is the sole disciple of Su Wuming, the “Divine Sword Beyond the Heavens” and first-ranked expert on the Earth Ranking at the time. She belongs to Sword Washing Pavilion and cultivates the Supreme Sword Scripture, whose ultimate killing move Sword Comes Without Self defines much of her sword path. 13 42 239

During the Hidden Emperor Fortress mission, she initially hesitates after killing for the first time and is troubled by Yan Wujiang’s death. Even while severely injured by Cheng Yong, she uses the insight granted by her Eye Aperture to direct Meng Qi toward Cheng Yong’s weaknesses. 11 12 She later kills the Hidden Emperor Fortress Lord with Sword Comes Without Self after Meng Qi creates the opening she needs. 15

Her early fame grows quickly. Before formally traveling the Jianghu, she is already listed on the Human Ranking; by Six Apertures, she enters its top ten. 95 151 Her ranking record credits her with heavily wounding the Half-step Outer Scenery “Heartless Warrior” through Sword Comes Without Self and then surviving the battle with Strike the Vast Sea. 239

She deliberately pursues growth through danger rather than relying on shortcuts. Facing a coming Death Mission, she chooses to challenge strong opponents and attempt to open her eighth aperture herself instead of exchanging for an aperture-opening pill. 193 Later, she spends half a year refining her sword arts and obtains resources intended to enhance both her sword and protective equipment. 683

During a mission in the Nine Villages World, a Primordial Demon consciousness possesses her. Meng Qi subdues her without unleashing his full strength, then expels the influence with a Filth Removal Pill and the Green Lamp. 363 She later confronts Manjushri Bodhisattva’s Remains alone, entering Taishang Forgetfulness and fighting despite knowing victory is unlikely; she is ultimately defeated and drawn into Manjushri’s Palm Pure Land. 927 928

Appearance

Jiang Zhiwei is consistently presented as radiant and striking, with an unrestrained yet composed bearing. Her presence often evokes a famous sword still sheathed: restrained until the moment she draws. 79 316 409

  • Black hair, usually simply pinned or casually tied up. 79 409
  • Favours understated warm-toned clothing, including light yellow, ivory, goose-yellow, and apricot-yellow dresses. 79 409 924
  • Carries a longsword, most notably the White Rainbow Piercing Sun Sword. 263
  • Can disguise herself as a slender male swordsman with a thin mustache when necessary. 437

Personality

Jiang Zhiwei is direct, calm, and intensely committed to the Sword Dao. She does not seek false reassurance: when facing Manjushri’s Remains, she accepts that she may have no chance of winning but fights in pursuit of the state of “Only I and the Sword.” 928

Her determination is paired with self-awareness. After Yan Wujiang’s death, she frankly admits that her sect trained her to survive ambushes, not to protect others. 11 When preparing for the Death Mission, she chooses hardship and real combat over depending on medicinal aids, seeking to force her own breakthrough. 193

She is also observant and practical. She notices Qi Zhengyan’s unease after a joint mission and asks Meng Qi to investigate discreetly. 195 She chooses Ice Silkworm Boots after harsh terrain ruins her ordinary footwear, recognizing that clothing and auxiliary items can matter in battle. 115

Abilities & Skills

Supreme Sword Scripture

Jiang Zhiwei cultivates the Supreme Sword Scripture, a peerless art that condenses sword intent, strengthens the sword heart, and enhances the force of her sword techniques. 263

  • Has access to the Scripture’s orifice-opening sword techniques. 239
  • Her master judges that she has mastered the transition from complexity to simplicity, but needs greater variation; he directs her to train from simplicity back toward complexity. 193
  • Demonstrates an instinctive “sword before thought” response, intercepting attacks before ordinary reaction time would permit. 293
  • Has fully grasped the essence of sword arts according to her Human Ranking record. 239

Sword Comes Without Self

A Dharma Body-level ultimate killing move of the Supreme Sword Scripture and Jiang Zhiwei’s signature technique. 15 239

  • Uses it to kill the Hidden Emperor Fortress Lord despite being injured. 15
  • Severely wounds the Half-step Outer Scenery “Heartless Warrior.” 239
  • Can impose an oppressive, slowed sensation on an opponent, leaving them unable to mobilize strength, circulate their Inner World, or activate their Dharma Image before the sword reaches them. 656
  • Its early use carried severe backlash; after her promotion, she can distribute that backlash among her Dharma Image, Primordial Spirit, and body. 885

Strike the Vast Sea

An Outer Scenery sword move derived from Sword Comes Without Self. 193

  • Developed after opening her Mouth Aperture and forming her Inner World. 193
  • Used after a prolonged battle against “Heartless Warrior,” when she was already severely wounded. 239

Twenty-Three Swords

Jiang Zhiwei’s refined and integrated version of the Twenty-Three Swords. 885

  • Known as “Jiang’s Twenty-Three Swords” rather than the original form. 885
  • Developed over years of comprehension and integration. 885
  • She sought insight into the Heavenly Emperor’s Way of Time by waiting outside Xuantian Sect for half a year to challenge departing Grandmasters. 885

Yama’s Post

A fast, momentum-driven killing move with concentrated death intent. 291

  • Used to exploit the opening created during a clash between several fighters and strike directly for He Jiu’s brow. 420
  • Relies on speed and momentum, making it less effective against targets unaffected by spiritual pressure or acting on instinct. 291

Taishang Forgetfulness

A state she enters when confronting Manjushri Bodhisattva’s Remains. 927

  • Allows her to face an overwhelming opponent with total focus on her sword path. 927
  • She uses it while pursuing the state of “Only I and the Sword.” 928
