"This is the key to the dorm."
"One for each person, no spares. If you lose it, you'll need to report it to the academy, and someone will be assigned to make a replacement."
"The academy currently has very few people, so basically all the rooms are quite spacious. You don't need to worry about not having enough space, your luggage not fitting, or crowding."
"The rooms come fully equipped with all the necessary facilities and appliances—bedding, private bathroom, kitchen, everything."
"Anyway, if there's anything else you need, you can also report it. If it's reasonable, the academy will prepare it for you."
"As for other rules: you can rest freely on weekends, but you can't stay out overnight."
"Of course, if there's a special situation where you really can't make it back, reporting it in time is fine."
"You've lived in a university dorm before, so it's pretty similar to that."
"I'm sure you'll get used to it after a few days."
Inside a clean dorm room, Rose was introducing the academy's situation to Ashe, who followed behind her.
Casually, she took off her jacket and hung it on the coat rack.
Then she grabbed a drink from the fridge—one she'd put in earlier—and handed a bottle to Ashe.
Leaning against the wall, her voice cool, she continued: "Generally speaking, students who come here each live alone in their own dorm."
"But I remember you told Ajie you wanted to share a dorm with me, right?"
"Take a look—this is my dorm. What do you think? Want to stay?"
Raising her chin slightly, she gestured for Ashe to look around. Rose didn't seem to have any aversion to living with Ashe at all.
"Oh, right. As you can see, I only have one bed here. So if you're staying, we'll have to sleep in the same bed."
She picked up her water cup and took a sip.
Rose added nonchalantly.
Ashe didn't speak right away.
She looked around, observing Rose's dorm.
Simple. Clean.
Those were the only two words that came to Ashe's mind about the whole room.
No extra decorations, no cute ornaments—even the sheets and bedding were a plain white.
Aside from the furniture originally installed in the dorm, Rose seemed to have added nothing else.
Rather than a place for relaxation and comfort, Ashe felt that, to Rose, this was just a place to sleep.
It was minimalism taken to the extreme.
"So? Any issues? If you want to stay, I can apply for a set of bedding for you right now. Don't worry, their delivery is fast."
Watching Ashe take in her room, Rose asked casually, as if out of normal concern.
If you didn't look closely, you probably wouldn't notice the slightly deformed water bottle in Rose's hand.
That's right—Rose didn't want to live with Ashe.
It wasn't that she disliked Ashe; it was just the natural aversion that came from having her personal space invaded by someone else.
It was normal. Like when you get a new roommate in a shared dorm—even if you know it's unavoidable, there's always a bit of discomfort, a feeling that your private territory has been encroached upon.
It's human instinct.
Rose was no exception.
You could argue that if she didn't want to live with Ashe, she could just say no outright.
Like in the original story, when Rose dealt with Ge Xiaolun—a beating and a flat refusal, and that was that.
But Ashe wasn't Ge Xiaolun, and the circumstances were different.
First, Ge Xiaolun was a guy. A man and a woman living together was inherently abnormal.
Second, Ge Xiaolun's intentions were impure.
With that lecherous look on his face—if Ge Xiaolun weren't the target, you think Rose wouldn't have knocked him around?
Even if Ashe's motives weren't exactly pure either.
But Ashe was pretty!
