Background & History
Izuna initially trains under Uchiha Nagahiko alongside Sosuke. Proud of Madara and resentful of Sosuke's praised talent, he challenges Sosuke to a sparring match; Sosuke defeats him by reading his movements with the Sharingan. Though humiliated, Izuna's rivalry pushes him to work harder. After Sosuke later suppresses his Great Fireball Technique, Izuna begins treating him with the respect he gives strong opponents. 3 4
Madara's return reveals the depth of Izuna's attachment to his elder brother. Izuna avoids vulgar language in Madara's presence, embraces him immediately upon his return, and joins Madara and Sosuke in collective training. At this stage, Madara's pure taijutsu exceeds the combined abilities of Izuna and Sosuke. 6
Izuna fights alongside Madara and Sosuke during the attack on the Uchiha Academy. Despite being injured, he remains concerned for Sosuke after the battle and visits him repeatedly during his recovery. During this period, Madara discloses that Izuna has awakened the Sharingan. 14 15
Years later, Izuna reunites with Madara and Sosuke as one of the “Uchiha Three Stars.” By age ten, he possesses the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, Jonin-level combat power, and exceptional Fire Style proficiency. 82
Personality
Izuna is intensely competitive, blunt, and easily provoked when others challenge Madara's standing or dismiss the Uchiha. His early jealousy of Sosuke's talent becomes a long-running friendly rivalry built on mutual trust. 3 4 109
His loyalty to Madara is absolute. He is protective of his brother's safety, distrustful of Hashirama's influence on him, and openly hostile toward the Senju Clan after the escalation of the Uchiha–Senju conflict. 6 137 141
Despite his aggression, Izuna is devoted to the people close to him. He accepts the danger of infiltrating the Ninja Sect because Konoha is threatened, believing that his status as a publicly dead man makes him uniquely suited to espionage. 189

Story Role / Major Arcs
Uchiha–Senju War
Following Tajima's death, Izuna and Madara awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan together. Izuna assumes greater responsibility for the clan's military fronts, confronts Senju Takema, and later defeats Tobirama in a formal duel through Mangekyo, Susanoo, and Kagutsuchi. 136 141 155
Izuna is later gravely wounded in an ambush involving Tobirama and Uchiha Tetsuya. He dies from his injuries, prompting Madara to consider eye transplantation and Sosuke to prepare the Living Corpse Reincarnation technique. 165 166
Resurrection and Infiltration
Sosuke restores Izuna through Living Corpse Reincarnation, spending heavily to secure his return. Izuna later reactivates the Mangekyo and chooses to operate under the identity of Uchiha Yamazaki, infiltrating Kumogakure to investigate the Ninja Sect. 167 168 189 190
Defense of Konoha
During the war against the Ninja Sect's allies, Izuna battles Tobirama's army and contributes to Konoha's resistance against multiple villages. 211
When Momoshiki and Kinshiki attack, Izuna rapidly deduces that Tobirama was killed to harvest chakra. He uses precognition to evade Kinshiki's attack, then uses his Rinnegan flames to move the conflict away from Konoha. 246
Later Battles
Momoshiki, after absorbing Kinshiki, defeats Izuna and Chiri before Madara intervenes. Izuna is later effortlessly defeated by Ōtsutsuki Yayoi, recognizing the enormous gap between himself and a peak enemy while still trusting Madara to protect him. 247 275
After becoming a Divine Fire-level expert, Izuna uses his heat-based power against high-level invaders while minimizing collateral damage to the Ninja World. He eventually leaves the world because remaining near its sun risked endangering Earth itself. 297 302
