Background / History

Yu Xiaogang joined Spirit Hall as a young man after revealing that he was the son of Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan leader Yu Yuanzhen. Initially rejected because of his poor talent, he received only ordinary membership and the lowest salary. He sought access to Spirit Hall’s restricted library floors in hopes of finding a way to evolve his Martial Soul, Luo Sanpao, back into a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. 285

Before meeting the younger Bibi Dong, Yu Xiaogang repeatedly attempted to befriend library visitors with sufficient status to take him to higher floors. He later identified Bibi Dong as the Spirit Hall Saintess and prepared to approach her for the same purpose. 283 285

By the time Tang San entered Notting Academy, Yu Xiaogang was known as “Master” and was promoted by the headmaster as an authority on martial soul theory. Despite this reputation, he had never taught a class at the academy and had rejected other prospective disciples before accepting Tang San. 32

He is knowledgeable about Douluo Continent’s history, races, power system, nations, and major factions; Bai Feng found his answers accurate and far more comprehensive than Lei Hong’s. 37

Yu Xiaogang accepts Tang San as his disciple at Notting Academy, surprising Wang Sheng and the other work-study students because he had not previously taught students or accepted disciples. 32

Soul Hunting Forest Incident

Yu Xiaogang accompanies Tang San, Wang Sheng, and Lei Hong into the Soul Hunting Forest. A Mandala Snake swallows him during their encounter; after Bai Feng kills the snake, Tang San pulls Yu Xiaogang out through its cloaca. Tang San subsequently treats the poison affecting him. 35 36 37

Wolf Calamity

During the Wolf Calamity, Yu Xiaogang reunites with Flender and Liu Erlong. Their Golden Holy Dragon fusion skill lets him demonstrate significant battlefield power and improves Tang San’s opinion of him. 118

Bibi Dong’s Return to the Past

When Bibi Dong travels back to her youth, she observes Yu Xiaogang’s attempts to gain access to Spirit Hall’s higher library floors through influential acquaintances.
