Background / History

Dai Mubai leaves for Heaven Dou Imperial City with his father's consent. Near the border, he encounters Li Xunhuan and Yoriichi Tsugikuni, correctly suspects they are Reincarnators, and listens to their accounts of other worlds. 139 140

After learning that demons have infiltrated Douluo Continent, he volunteers to accompany Yoriichi and Li Xunhuan. Although he presents this as a duty to protect the continent, he is chiefly interested in learning Yoriichi's demon-slaying Breathing Techniques and gaining an advantage for future sect selections. 143

He fails to cultivate Sun Breathing, but Yoriichi guides him toward Thunder Breathing instead. Dai Mubai learns its basics and trains with a long blade, though he has not yet cultivated Ripple Energy Art. 143

During the demon hunt, a Lower Moon Ghost leader teleports him away from his companions into Xenomorph Valley. Isolated against Xenomorph swarms, Dai Mubai is nearly overwhelmed by their numbers and corrosive blood before “Li Xiaoyao” saves him by masking their scent with mud. 151 152 153 154

Believing Li Xiaoyao to be a Reincarnator and his lifesaver, Dai Mubai promises to repay him. When Li Xiaoyao claims to be an ordinary person unable to escape alone, Dai Mubai hesitates, then agrees to teach him Thunder Breathing; Li Xiaoyao masters its basics with alarming speed. 154 156

Dai Mubai is proud, status-conscious, and deeply unwilling to accept being surpassed. His fear of his elder brother Dai Weisi coexists with a conviction that he is not inherently inferior, driving his repeated pursuit of strength, recognition, and opportunities to improve his position. 189 250

He can show gratitude and loyalty, sincerely promising to repay Li Xiaoyao for saving his life and eventually sharing Thunder Breathing with him. However, his hesitation before doing so exposes the limits of that generosity. 154 156

His ambition is repeatedly compromised by indulgence, jealousy, and resentment. He becomes infatuated with the Snow Moon Tower courtesans despite his engagement to Zhu Zhuqing, envies Bai Luo's talent, and later accepts the Shadow Guardians' aid despite knowing their plans involve slaughter and destruction. 159 175 178 251

Demon Hunt and Xenomorph Valley

Dai Mubai joins Yoriichi and Li Xunhuan to track demons toward Heaven Dou Imperial City, seeking Breathing Techniques for himself as well as a means to fight the demon threat. He learns Thunder Breathing but is separated from the group and transported into Xenomorph Valley. 143 152

After failing to escape the Xenomorph swarm alone, he is saved by Bai Luo's Li Xiaoyao persona. His promise to repay the rescue ultimately leads him to share Thunder Breathing. 153 154 156

Snow Moon Tower and Broken Engagement

Tempted by the three disguised “Courtesans” of Snow Moon Tower, Dai Mubai wins the Great Soul Master Soul Duel championship and is chosen by all three. He continues returning to the tower despite becoming physically drained. 159 160 161 162

Zhu Zhuqing confronts him after learning of his behavior. Once Dai Mubai recognizes her identity, she rejects him and declares their engagement effectively over. 175 177

Decline and the Demon Sealing Box

The Old Beggar diagnoses Dai Mubai with depleted Primordial Yang and origin, concluding that his romantic excesses have badly damaged his prospects in Martial Arts. 190

Traumatized by discovering the courtesans' true identities, he develops an aversion to women, avoids the Heaven Piercing Sword Sect and Under Heaven Society selections out of shame, and spends his time drinking alone. 242

The Demon Sealing Box then falls into his possession. The Shadow Guardians within tempt him with power, and Dai Mubai agrees to help them collect energy. 243

Shadow Guardian Alliance

After the Thousand Jun Ant Beast's destruction provides energy, Dai Mubai willingly undergoes the Demon Sealing Box's painful empowerment. His Soul Power rises, his body is strengthened, and his Evil Eye White Tiger mutates into a black-and-purple Martial Soul. 250 251

He follows the Shadow Guardians' plans in Sunset Forest, creating Mutant Beasts from Soul Beasts and using them to assist his rise in power. 252

Dragon Slaying Order and Fall

Dai Mubai enters the Hagendas Kingdom's Dragon Slaying Order hoping to rescue Princess Bing Xue and become Prince Consort. He defeats Dai Lingkong to secure the Star Luo Imperial Family's place in the operation. 273

At Gathering Cloud Peak, he secretly arranges for Princess Bing Xue to be isolated, intending to murder his competitors with Mutant Beasts and stage a rescue. Emperor Knight Li Ziyang interrupts the attack, forcing Dai Mubai to flee on the Black Dragon Beast. 276 277 278
