Background

Dan Lei is a soul from another world reborn on the Xianzhou Luofu after a prolonged incubation within a Sustainer Egg. Because the surname Dan was prominent among Luofu Sustainers, he retained it; his given name, Lei, was chosen in the hope that his supposedly weak body would one day become firm as stone. 4

His Innate Dao Body could absorb the Great Source, but the resulting overload nearly killed him. While being treated by the Alchemy Commission, he chose the Path of Abundance. The Chizuru Clan regarded the newborn Pathstrider as promising and placed him under Dan Zhu's instruction. 4

Dan Zhu trained him in medicine, but Dan Lei fulfilled her assignments without developing any interest in becoming a physician. Instead, he devoted his free time to mastering absorption through his Innate Dao Body. 4

He later worked for the Ten Lords' Commission, maintaining golden people and automata. Investigated due to his ties to Dan Zhu and Yun Hua, he ultimately resigned in Star Calendar 8073 after sensing that the Holy Grail had filled; he opened a shop in Golden People Alley to study it. 4

Dan Lei is ambitious, pragmatic, and intensely self-directed. He pursues techniques, rare materials, and power systems from other worlds because he has not yet found his own Dao, viewing other inheritances as tools to refine himself. 68
