That had been purely an accident. Anse had not understood Polymorph well enough and had used too much force.
The core of Polymorph was replacing Strength with his Spellcasting attribute. After transforming, his claws became magical weapons; every attack was equivalent to the full-force blow of a Warrior with 19 Strength. Their power was beyond question.
Ragnar, ahead of him, was secretly alarmed as well. She had noticed earlier that this man had solid fundamentals—his climbing and stealth were decent, clearly the result of professional training. He merely lacked close-combat experience. But casually crushing someone's head off was genuinely terrifying.
"Could he be that Sorcerer from earlier today?"
Just then, a scream rang out from ahead.
"Enemy attack—"
The shriek shattered the night's silence, and the ship immediately erupted into chaos. Cabin doors flew open, lights came on, and shadows filled the deck.
"Storm them!"
Ragnar paused, no longer bothering to hide. She broke into a Great Step Run and charged, knocking two sailors overboard with a single impact.
"What a waste."
Anse inwardly lamented. He swept his gaze around but did not rush in. Instead, he quickly cast Great Step Run and Leap Spell on himself.
The [Conch] resembled an early galleon, with two tiers of sterncastle decks. The stern was difficult to climb, and most of Ragnar's companions were positioned around the middle and rear of the ship.
The group was formidable. Against the panicked sailors rushing out, they practically slaughtered them at the doors, taking one down every few strikes.
One of them wielded a rapier, moving as nimbly as if dancing at a banquet. A faint magical glow shimmered over his body.
"No wonder the four of them dared board the ship."
Anse did not stop to look closer and headed straight for the sterncastle.
