Background / History

Hogwarts is an ancient castle built on a cliff overlooking the Black Lake. Its illuminated windows give the otherwise imposing structure a warm, homelike appearance to arriving first-years, who cross the lake by boat under Hagrid's guidance 12.

The school accepts young wizards through formal admission letters, providing a required-equipment list and arranging special pre-term guidance when necessary. Its original letter to Ethan Vincent identifies Albus Dumbledore as Headmaster and Minerva McGonagall as Deputy Headmistress 2.

During Ethan's early years, Hogwarts becomes the setting for increasingly disruptive magical projects: exhibitions of animated art, the Ancient City of Thane mural, portals, monster-filled assessments, and the reopening of the Chamber of Secrets. Dumbledore permits many of these changes despite staff concerns, treating Ethan's creations as contributions to the school rather than solely as disciplinary problems 45 106 130.

Ethan becomes Hogwarts' new Headmaster in his later school years. He announces plans to modernize teaching, excavate the castle's hidden secrets, and turn Hogwarts into “the strongest fortress” for the coming war 431.

Grounds and Exterior

Administration and Education

Ethan's administration shifts Hogwarts away from conventional instruction. As Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, he requires fifth-years and above to learn wandless magic, uses spatial-transfer classrooms and live combat scenarios, and eventually inserts himself into every subject's teaching.
