"The numbers don't add up?"
Lin Feng stared at him in surprise.
"That's right. We counted carefully while tracking those Jackalmen. There were thirteen of them, but I counted only twelve corpses on the ground!"
After Three Rounds of Drinks pointed at the Jackalmen's bodies.
Lin Feng's expression changed.
The Jackalmen had entered the valley in two groups, and he hadn't counted them carefully.
Now one corpse was missing. There was only one possibility: one Jackalman hadn't entered the valley!
Since when had Jackalmen become so cautious?
"Clean up the battlefield. Dig a pit and bury these Jackalmen. I'm going after the one that got away!"
Lin Feng said.
He couldn't let that Jackalman escape back to its tribe!
"Chief, I'll go with you!"
After Three Rounds of Drinks volunteered.
Lin Feng glanced at him and shook his head.
"No need. You're too slow!"
With that, Lin Feng gripped his wooden club and charged out of the valley alone.
Outside the valley, Suijiao listened to the sounds of fighting within and paced anxiously in circles.
He had absolute faith in his companions, especially Captain Suihou. He was a warrior of the tribe, the kind who could take on at least ten members of the Human Race by himself!
Taking on twenty members of the Human Race should have been a piece of cake.
But the fighting in the valley went on and on, and he couldn't help feeling uneasy.
Fortunately, the sounds of fighting gradually died down.
Had the captain and the others wiped out all those members of the Human Race?
He craned his neck to peer into the valley, hesitating over whether to go in and take a look.
But remembering the captain's instructions to wait for them to come out once the fighting ended, he resisted the urge to investigate.
He stood at the mouth of the valley, waiting and waiting, but none of his companions came out to tell him the good news.
His unease slowly grew.
Could the captain and the others have lost to those humans?
Or were they too busy enjoying their feast to remember to come out and tell him?
As he wondered, he saw a figure charge out of the valley.
It wasn't one of his companions. It was a member of the Human Race carrying a wooden club!
That person was incredibly fast, so fast that it shattered everything he thought he knew about the Human Race.
Even more terrifying, when the human saw him, he charged over with excitement written all over his face.
Suijiao didn't have time to think. He turned and ran for the tribe as fast as he could.
The captain and the others hadn't come out. Most likely, something had happened to them!
He had to hurry back to the tribe and tell the chief!
Lin Feng charged out of the valley and immediately spotted the Jackalman peering foolishly into it.
He breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as the Jackalman was still here, that was fine.
With his speed, now that he'd spotted the Jackalman, there was no way he'd let him escape.
The next moment, he saw the Jackalman drop to all fours and flee into the distance.
Lin Feng smiled.
At least the guy wasn't stupid.
But wasn't it a little late to start running now?
He pumped his arms and sprinted at full speed after the fleeing Jackalman.
The distance between them rapidly shrank before his eyes.
Suijiao raced away as fast as he could, remembering to glance back and see whether the human was gaining on him.
When he saw Lin Feng closing in, he was stunned.
This was impossible!
How could a member of the Human Race be so fast?
He ran with all his might, pushing himself to the limit, his four claws practically smoking, yet he still couldn't put any distance between himself and Lin Feng.
Seeing that it was only a matter of time before the human caught him, he stopped running. He skidded to a halt and turned to face Lin Feng with a snarl.
He was only one human!
So what if he couldn't outrun him? That didn't mean he couldn't beat him!
He could kill this human and then go back to report what had happened!
"Why'd you stop running?"
Lin Feng saw that he'd stopped and strolled over with a smile.
"Human, don't get cocky. Being fast doesn't mean anything."
"I didn't want to kill you, but you just had to chase me! Fine, then. You're going to die!"
With that, Suijiao tensed all four limbs and pounced at Lin Feng.
In his experience, speed and strength were inversely proportional.
He was one of the fastest in his tribe, but he was much weaker than the other Jackalmen.
This human was so fast that he was sure he was weaker than an average human!
He was no match for Suijiao!
Certain of his victory, Suijiao pounced at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng smiled and swung his wooden club in the same way he had when defeating Suihou, bringing it down on Suijiao.
This time, however, he wasn't aiming for the chest. He was aiming for the head.
The wooden club blurred through the air, moving so fast that Suijiao had no time to react.
With a bang and a piercing scream, the club slammed into Suijiao's head.
His skull shattered instantly. He let out a single scream before falling to the ground, lifeless.
A single hit was all it took!
Lin Feng nodded with satisfaction, hoisted Suijiao's body onto his shoulder, and returned to the valley.
In the valley.
The players dug a pit for the Jackalmen while chatting and laughing.
They'd won a clean, satisfying victory, and everyone was thrilled—especially the dozen or so who'd gotten their hands on the spoils.
That is, everyone except for the six who had died and logged off, and the four badly wounded players lying off to one side.
"Da Qing, can you stop my bleeding first? I think there's still a chance to save me."
Ranger lay on the ground, clutching his stomach, and pleaded weakly with Da Qing.
The Jackalman's claws had ripped open his stomach. Blood poured out like water, no matter how hard he tried to hold it in.
He was already lying in a pool of blood.
Fortunately, he'd turned his pain setting down to one percent. Otherwise, the pain alone would've killed him.
Da Qing crouched beside him and looked him over.
"How are you supposed to be saved? Just wait to die!"
Da Qing shook his head.
His stomach had been torn open, and there were no surgical tools in the tribe. How could they save him?
Besides, even if they had surgical tools, it wouldn't matter. He wasn't a doctor.
"Sis Ye, aren't you a surgical nurse? Help me..."
Ranger turned to plead with Su Ziye.
He didn't want to be locked out of the game for twenty-four hours!
Su Ziye frowned at his wound.
"Even if I save you, you'll probably be bedridden for dozens of days before you recover. Are you sure you want me to try?"
Su Ziye tilted her head as she asked.
If Ranger was willing, she wouldn't mind practicing on him.
It wouldn't matter if she couldn't save him anyway.
When Ranger heard he might be bedridden for dozens of days, his expression changed.
He wouldn't gain any experience while recovering in bed. By the time those days had passed, who knew what level all the other players would be? Would he still be level three?
He'd be better off dying and starting over!
"Why don't you just finish me off?"
Ranger could only accept reality.
In twenty-four hours, he'd be back in action!
"Me! I'll do it!"
As soon as he heard he could finish off a teammate, Shooting A Bit Like Kobe eagerly hurried over.
"Brother, how do you want to die? I could whack you over the head. I guarantee it won't hurt at all!"
Shooting A Bit Like Kobe excitedly suggested, waving the Wolf Tooth Club he'd just won.
He hadn't had a chance to test out his new weapon yet!
Ranger lowered his head and thought for a moment.
"Why don't you dig a pit for me too while you're at it? I want to see what it feels like to be buried alive!"
Ranger looked up, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
"Holy crap, I never realized you were such a freak!"
Shooting A Bit Like Kobe stared at Ranger with wide eyes.
He wanted to see what it felt like to be buried alive?
What kind of hobby was that?!
