"Wow, is this an NPC in the game? He looks exactly like a real person!"

"Isn't that obvious? With a game this realistic, they can't exactly give you an NPC that looks like a cartoon decal, can they?"

"I wonder how intelligent the NPCs in this game are!"

"I hope they're smarter. The game is so realistic—if the NPCs act like idiots with only a couple of lines of dialogue, that would be way too jarring."

The five players surrounded Lin Feng, chattering away.

"The leather armor he's wearing looks pretty cool. I wonder how good its defense is."

After Three Rounds of Drinks spoke as his sinful right hand reached toward Lin Feng's chest.

"Ahem!"

Lin Feng coughed lightly, interrupting After Three Rounds of Drinks.

"Skyfallers, watch your words and actions. According to the agreement between the Human Emperor and me, once you arrive in the Savage World, all your actions must follow my command."

"If anyone disobeys orders or deliberately causes trouble, I will report it to the Human Emperor and revoke their qualification to enter the Savage World!"

Lin Feng said sternly.

After hearing that, the five players immediately became much more well-behaved.

"Revoke our qualification to enter the Savage World... doesn't that mean getting our accounts banned?"

After Three Rounds of Drinks looked horrified.

A game this realistic was impossible to find a second time once missed.

He definitely didn't want to get banned!

"Probably. Looks like this NPC has pretty high authority. We can't afford to offend him!"

Da Qing chimed in.

"Watch me!"

Wind Flower Snow Moon stepped forward confidently.

He was an experienced RPG player. When it came to dealing with NPCs, he had plenty of experience.

"Respected Chief, we have come bearing the Human Emperor's orders and the mission of reviving the Human Race. May I ask what we need to do?"

Wind Flower Snow Moon asked solemnly.

The other four players all glanced at him.

Was this kid really getting this deep into character?

"Very good."

Lin Feng nodded at Wind Flower Snow Moon with satisfaction. This was how a player should act!

"The first thing we need to do is gain a foothold in this world. A day ago, the tribe was attacked by Jackalmen. Our original settlement was completely destroyed, and most of our people died heroically in battle. We need to build a new tribe in this valley."

"At the same time, we are running low on food. If we don't catch any prey soon, we'll all go hungry!"

"I've decided to split up. Two people will follow me out to hunt, while the other three gather wood. We need to Build Fence to seal off the passage between the Inner Valley and Outer Valley, preventing wild beasts from getting in."

Lin Feng said.

This valley was shaped like a gourd. The Inner Valley was slightly smaller and the Outer Valley slightly larger. At its narrowest point, the passage between them was only a dozen or so meters wide.

Building a defensive fence at the passage would effectively ward off invasions from wild beasts or other tribes.

Lin Feng examined the five players' attributes.

Da Qing and After Three Rounds of Drinks were Strength Class, Wanhuatong was Constitution Class, I Shoot You Innocent was Agility Class, and Wind Flower Snow Moon was Intelligence Class.

The players' base attributes at level 0 differed from his.

At level 0, all four of his base attributes were 5 points.

For players, their main attribute was 7 points, while the other three were all 5 points.

That was two more attribute points than him.

Of course, when he leveled up, all his attributes increased by 2. Players, however, gained 2 points in their main attribute and 1 point in the other attributes, making their growth potential much weaker than his.

"Da Qing, After Three Rounds of Drinks, you two will follow me outside to hunt. Wanhuatong, I Shoot You Innocent, Wind Flower Snow Moon, you three will chop down trees and gather wood to Build Fence."

Lin Feng began assigning tasks.

The New Arrival quest in the players' quest log had already been completed, and new quests appeared.

Quest Name: Hunting

Quest Details: Follow Chief Lin Feng outside the valley to hunt.

Quest Reward: 20 experience points, plus additional experience rewards based on performance during the hunt.

Quest Details: Gather wood and build a sturdy wooden fence for the tribe.

The five players were thrilled to receive the quests. They could hardly wait to get started.

"Chief, do we have any tools? Axes or something?"

Wind Flower Snow Moon asked.

Since they were building a fence, the fallen little branches obviously wouldn't do. The best option was to chop down some trees.

But they couldn't exactly chop down trees with their bare hands, could they?

"Of course." Lin Feng nodded. "There are a few Stone Axes in the cave. Go pick whichever ones feel right in your hands."

Wind Flower Snow Moon was delighted when Lin Feng said "of course." But when he heard the words Stone Axe, his heart sank again.

This game was so realistic. The Stone Axes here couldn't really be the primitive kind, could they?

They were supposed to use those to chop down trees?

"Besides the Stone Axes, there are Stone Spears in the cave. You'll need them for hunting, so you two should each pick one as well."

Lin Feng then said to Da Qing and After Three Rounds of Drinks, who had accepted the hunting quest.

Since they were going hunting, going empty-handed was obviously out of the question.

The players followed Lin Feng into the cave. It was not very large. Five children were playing inside, with some tools piled nearby.

When they saw the players, the five children stopped playing and watched them with curious yet somewhat fearful eyes.

Were these the Skyfallers Brother Lin Feng had mentioned?

They looked really powerful!

"There are other NPCs in the tribe too! But why are they all children?"

"I wonder if these NPCs can trigger quests."

"We can try later."

The players looked at the five children and began discussing them.

"Ahem!"

Lin Feng coughed lightly, cutting off their discussion.

Other NPCs could indeed issue quests, but he needed to grant them permission through the system first.

Lin Feng had not yet granted the children permission to issue quests, so for now, only he could give out quests.

"Time is short. Pick the weapons and tools you need, then let's get moving!"

After saying that, Lin Feng took the lead in selecting a fairly sturdy Stone Spear from the pile of tools.

The players followed his example and began choosing.

The so-called Stone Spears and Stone Axes were simply sturdy wooden handles with sharpened, diamond-shaped or axe-shaped stones fixed onto them.

"Can this thing really chop down trees?"

Wanhuatong inspected the Stone Axe in his hand skeptically.

"It can definitely chop. It'll just take more effort! Seriously, what were the developers thinking? Couldn't they have spawned a few iron axes for us?"

I Shoot You Innocent grumbled under his breath.

"Since it's a completely realistic game, a tribe this primitive should naturally be using Stone Axes for realism."

Wind Flower Snow Moon was more optimistic.

After the five chose their weapons and tools, they followed Lin Feng outside the cave.

"You three can gather wood in the Outer Valley. There's no need to leave the valley. The area outside is full of wild beasts. If you run into a ferocious one, you won't even get a chance to escape!"

Lin Feng warned them.

Gourd Valley was a hidden valley the tribe had discovered by chance before it was attacked by the Jackalmen.

The old chief had not immediately moved the tribe into the valley. Instead, he had kept it as a retreat for the tribe.

There had originally been some wild beasts in the valley, but the tribe's hunters had already killed them all.

Outside the valley was another matter entirely.

The Savage World was inhabited by the Myriad Races, and the term did not refer solely to intelligent races.

Some beast races without intelligence were included as well.

If these newcomers who had just entered the game wandered around outside the valley alone, they would probably be turned into the wild beasts' lunch before noon.

"Understood!"

The three-person lumber crew nodded repeatedly.

"You two, stay close to me once we leave. Don't act on your own!"

Lin Feng then warned Da Qing and After Three Rounds of Drinks beside him.

"Got it!"

The two agreed readily.
