After Chen had collected Shukaku's Chakra, he'd planned to leave, but he hadn't expected to run into Konoha's pursuers. Seeing the Pursuit Six-Man Team before him, Chen couldn't help but freeze. He was stunned by the appearance of Kakashi and the others; it was completely unexpected.
The Konoha pursuit team also reacted differently when they saw Chen. Kakashi remained relatively calm, while Shikamaru and Choji seemed unconcerned. Ino looked furious, glaring at Chen as if he owed her something. Only Naruto and Sakura Haruno seemed excited—and Bitch Sakura—no, Sakura Haruno—was especially dramatic, bursting into tears.

But it was too late. They had expected they might have to fight "Sasuke," but they hadn't thought he would attack as soon as he saw them, without even giving them a chance to say a word. It had happened so suddenly that they couldn't stop him. All they could do was shout, "Look out!"
