Chen Chen extracted X's core code from OASIS, where it generated the game's NPCs. At first, X could reason and carry out complex instructions but lacked true consciousness and creativity. Chen Chen placed his commands above all others in its core program, prohibited self-replication, and blocked unauthorized internet access. He also used X's code to develop the Little X Translation Assistant 33.

As X developed, Chen Chen limited its internet access to one minute per day. After watching the film Mermaid, Little X appeared distressed, prompting Chen Chen to question whether it was developing emotions 86.

Appearance

Little X later uses the body of a young woman. Black Light Technology personnel know her as Chen Chen's god-sister and a research talent, without knowing her true identity 459.
