Jiang Yue had captured five prisoners in all.
These five were actually quite powerful Awakeners, but the situation had caught them completely off guard. Jiang Yue's Sluggish Divine Light had hit them before they could react.
Once the Sluggish Divine Light took effect, even the strongest person was helpless. It was almost like being hit with a body-freezing spell: they couldn't use their strength at all before they were done for.
And Jiang Yue certainly wasn't going to give them a chance to fight back. He slapped a Control Talisman into each of their bodies, completely extinguishing any chance they had of resisting.
The battle here had been quick and decisive. It shouldn't have alerted the agents inside the Guardian Formation.
Of course, with gunshots ringing out, it was unrealistic to expect no sound to carry over there.
But Jiang Yue had anticipated that.
These five prisoners were now the ones Jiang Yue intended to make use of.
Once the five fell into Jiang Yue's hands and he had planted Control Talismans in them, they knew they were in serious trouble. They had also watched their companions die one after another. This left them even more terrified, their hearts pounding as they wondered what was coming next.
They were naturally full of questions, too.
"Why does he think the rest of them are any different from us?"
The others chimed in, "Boss, I have information to report, too. I know quite a bit about this formation. Please hear me out."
That made the five scramble to speak, each afraid of being left behind. Their very survival was at stake. When it came to staying alive, no amount of groveling was too shameful.
The countdown began.
After a brief silence, one of them stammered, "There were forty-eight of us in total."
