Retreat?
If they retreated now, this trip would be utterly absurd. They had lost three brothers, yet in the end, they had not even touched the edge of what they had been plotting. Not to mention the silver coins and raw gemstones—they had not even figured out the backgrounds of those three Mushroom People.
Qing Zhe had never been so disordered. His mind was filled with all kinds of suspicious thoughts. At this moment, to say he had no doubts about those three Mushroom People would be a lie. Yet while suspecting them, he could not help wondering how they had done it.
Could they really have controlled Xiao Qi into ambushing A Mang and stabbing him in the back?
That was not a method the Mushroom People could possibly possess. At least, within Qing Zhe's understanding of the Mushroom People's abilities, they simply did not have such a capability.
Perhaps the Underground World possessed some toxins that could make people lose their minds, causing them to act irrationally and even forget what they were doing.
But Xiao Qi's strike had clearly been a precise backstab. To deliver such a fatal blow, Xiao Qi's mind had at least been clear when he attacked. Even if he had been confused about friend and foe, his mind had still been capable of controlling his limbs to carry out the strike.
Then this abnormal behavior most likely had not been caused by poison.
But besides poison, what sort of mental-control talent could the Mushroom People possess? The Underground Race had countless tribes, and the Mushroom People were merely an inconspicuous one among them. Aside from their strong reproductive ability, they actually had no outstanding talents.
Qing Zhe could be certain that mental manipulation was absolutely not a talent the Mushroom People could master.
