Grass was originally born in the Chaos Thunder Pool as an Innate Sword Grass carrying Innate Thunderbolt Sword Will. In her ancient past, she was cared for by Bei Wumeng—then known to her as an elder sister—and willingly allowed herself to be refined into a treasure so she could one day assassinate the powerful Li Yuanlei. When Bei Wumeng was pursued into the Nightmare Realm, Grass detonated her Innate Origin to save her, splitting Li Yuanlei's treasure and destroying its original sword spirit. She later awakened in Wanhuagu Valley with her memories erased. 1324

In Wanhuagu Valley, Grass existed as a weak blade of grass amid stronger transformed plants and insects that bullied her and consumed the available energy. Chen Lin caught her during the Flower Fairy's fishing trial, where she transformed into a malnourished teenage girl with no identity beyond the rule that the person who caught her was her master. He named her Grass, clothed her, and brought her into reality. 467 468

Her early growth revealed an unusual contradiction: she was timid, unable to cultivate through ordinary methods, and deeply afraid of being useless, yet possessed innate sword intent far beyond her personality and experience.
