Chen Lin navigated dangerous bargains and Yu Yuehai’s schemes as the Monstrosity threatened the city. After Yu Yuehai’s plan collapsed and he died, Chen Lin escaped into the Barrens, where he continued cultivating and hunting for a way out.

• Chen Lin traded with Xu Ruolan, helped Ye Jingyun craft a powerful talisman, and learned that Yu Yuehai had reached Foundation Establishment while warning him about the danger of his Enlightenment Pills.
• Yu Yuehai gathered Chen Lin, Ye Jingyun, Zhao Zhengyuan, and the Xia Sisters as the Monstrosity appeared, then used an array to sever the vitality-draining red lines and led the group away from the city.
• Yu Yuehai and the Five Major Families attacked the Monstrosity, but it reassembled and drained the five family patriarchs and their rescuers into husks.

As powerful cultivators gathered in the city, he prepared to leave for Pingyang City once the exploration ended.

• Chen Lin met the Bai Family herb gatherers, sold them Red Vein Ginseng, and traveled with them to Guyuan City after confronting Li Ziqing’s threat.
• Chen Lin visited Guyuan Market and the Zhao Family Firm’s trading convention, where he traded for a Blood Escape Talisman and witnessed Bai Yunyue’s failed attempt to exchange the God-Nourishing Pill formula for True Yang Precious Jade.
• Chen Lin traded the Monster Transformation Talisman method to Qiu Chenggang for True Yang Precious Jade, then exchanged it with Bai Yunyue for the God-Nourishing Pill formula and Aurora Sword Technique.

There, he joined forces with Zhao Mengru, fought over spirit milk and treasures, and strengthened his Jade Talisman as the cavern began to collapse.

• Chen Lin destroyed a Red Shadow that attacked Yuyang Zi, and Yuyang Zi suspected the strange incidents were connected to the Ancient Cultivator Cave Abode.
• Chen Lin obtained talisman methods and ink from Yuyang Zi, then went to the Ma family village for sweet cloud herb juice and learned that the Withered Vine Spirit Fruit was a valuable Foundation Establishment ingredient.

• Chen Lin and Zhao Mengru found a chamber filled with Red Shadow Monsters and watched Ma Yu collect spirit milk before Lu Zifeng attacked him and the monsters killed him.
