Shu Yan helped Star Luo dominate the tournament while confronting the threats surrounding Huo Yuhao, the Sun Moon Empire, and Shrek Academy. After Ma Xiaotao’s Black Phoenix transformation, he entered seclusion with the Snow Empress to form a second Soul Core and emerged with a ninth soul ring.

• As the tournament began, Shu Yan warned that Huo Yuhao might become an enemy, while the Shrek team mourned losses from its bandit operation and learned how formidable Star Luo’s lineup was.
• Shu Yan and Snow Empress became lovers, and he later recognized Huo Yuhao as a Child of Fortune and Wang Dong as Tang San and Xiao Wu’s incomplete daughter.
• Shu Yan reunited with Di Qiu’er, confronted the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy over its treatment of her, and gave Xu Jiujiu a crystal of Evil God's Blood to auction.
• After Mingde Hall bought the crystal, Shu Yan observed a Holy Spirit Cult ambush and sent Qian Gu Chaoshēng to deal with the attackers, while surviving Soul Engineers went to the Soul Tool Research Institute.
• Shu Yan warned that Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire threatened her, then watched Xu Jiujiu, Ling Luochen, and Su Tong defeat Shrek Academy in the tournament semifinals.
• Shu Yan and Xu Jiujiu defeated the Sun Moon team in the final, and Shu Yan obtained Hongchen’s Protection and another Level Eight Soul Tool from Jing Hongchen.
• After Ma Xiaotao transformed into a Black Phoenix and was sealed by Su Tong and Luo Chen, Shu Yan entered seclusion with Snow Empress to form a second Soul Core.
• After two and a half months, Shu Yan and Snow Empress completed the process, and a ninth orange-gold soul ring settled around him.

Shu Yan gathered powerful Soul Spirits, destroyed the Holy Spirit Cult, exposed Tang San’s schemes, and ascended to divinity before defeating the Abyssal Sage King. With Shu Yan away, Star Luo fought the Sun Moon Empire and unified the continent, and he returned as Di Tian prepared to ascend.

• Shu Yan hunted powerful sea Soul Beasts, gained Demon Empress and Evil Emperor as Soul Spirits, and destroyed the Holy Spirit Cult, killing Zhong Liwu, Feng Ling, and Long Xiaoyao.
• At Shrek Academy, Shu Yan revealed the Abyss Plane’s threat, captured Ah Yin inside the Golden Tree, exposed her account of Tang San’s plan, and ordered Shrek to submit to Star Luo.
• Shu Yan subdued Da Ming and Er Ming, absorbed their energy and Tang Hao’s divine origin, and formed a third Soul Core that made him divine.
• Shu Yan entered the Abyss Plane, defeated the Abyssal Sage King, and severed the connection between the planes as Gu Yuena and Bibi Dong defeated the remaining Abyss forces in Douluo.
• While Shu Yan remained away, the Sun Moon Empire attacked, but Star Luo forces and their allies defeated it, and Tianhun and Dou Ling submitted to Star Luo.
• Shu Yan returned, urged Xu Jiujiu to advance Soul Tool research, and helped Di Tian withstand his divine tribulation so he could ascend.
