"Traveler! Go back the way you came. Take another step forward, and you'll lose your life!"
As Adam revealed himself, Tiger Vanguard glanced at him and shouted.
Adam:?
With that single glance from Adam, Tiger Vanguard felt as though a divine blade had shot from his eyes. In an instant, he sensed death closing in around him.
At the critical moment, Tiger Vanguard raised the long-handled saber in his hand, only for both saber and clothing to be torn apart by the divine blade in an instant.
With two clangs, after the broken halves of the saber fell separately to the ground, a clump of bloodstained tiger fur slowly drifted down before Tiger Vanguard.
"Gulp—"
Tiger Vanguard swallowed with difficulty, then dropped to his knees with a thud.
It was not that he truly lacked backbone. The main reason was that the sensation of imminent death had been far too intense—so intense that, in that instant, Tiger Vanguard had genuinely believed he was dead. Even now, he had no strength left to remain standing.
"You said I'd lose my life?"
At Adam's words, cold sweat instantly soaked Tiger Vanguard's fur. He scrambled up from the ground and repeatedly waved his hands.
"No, no! Immortal Master, please forgive me! There's an insect demon ahead harming the people and bringing ruin to all living things in the area. My king is trying to subdue it."
Tiger Vanguard pointed ahead, then continued.
"That insect demon is currently hiding beneath the sand. My king has found it difficult to subdue it alone for the time being, so I drove away passersby here to keep them from being harmed by the insect. That was why I offended you, Immortal Master."
It had to be said, hearing such words from a tiger demon was rather surreal.
