Upon learning what had happened, Jing Shi came over to thank him. Their conversations over the past several days had made her admire Xu Huo, and she also offered him a special ore someone had given her, explaining that it was an essential auxiliary material for crafting high-level items.
Xu Huo thanked her, then took the ore to Old Mr. Xi.
The two old men had spent the past few days puzzling over what sort of items they could make from those stones. Though they were all Sub-class Stones, each held different powers. Items crafted to suit a stone's particular properties worked better and had a higher success rate. Sometimes, materials even produced strange reactions when combined, yielding effects that the Artificers hadn't anticipated.
"Perfect timing," Old Mr. Xi said, stopping him. "We've tested the properties of the stones you gave us. Two of them are suitable for making mental-type items, but they won't produce anything especially good on their own. I suggest using one alongside the other ores with spatial properties to add some mental interference to a spatial attack item."
"Have you decided what kind of spatial attack item to make?" Xu Huo asked.
"The two most common uses of Space Power are cutting and blasting. The principle is the same: both rely on the destructive force released when space is folded and compressed. But using these stones for that kind of item would be a bit of a waste." As he spoke, Old Mr. Xi pulled out a hand-drawn plan. "We discussed it and think we can make an area-attack item. Ideally, once activated, Space Power throughout an area the size of a city would automatically gather into high-energy Space Rays, cutting through any object or person that entered the area."
