Outside the nursing home, he attacked a Player who claimed Xu Huo had gambled away Xu Zhi’s life and learned Brother Jie had spread the story.

• Xu Huo questioned the female doctor about a missing doctor from Seventeenth Hospital, and she retrieved a heart-shaped mirror hiding a portrait of an eyeless man.
• Liao Xu explained that his mother had drawn many identical portraits and said she had forgotten what the model looked like while sketching.
• Xu Huo reasoned that the seventh doctor may have trained him and the other children before their memories were erased, and wondered why he alone had been left behind when Xu Zhi died ten years earlier.
• Brother Jie arrived with several men and confronted Xu Huo over lost debt money and old disputes.
• When a lanky man accused Xu Huo of gambling away Xu Zhi’s life, Xu Huo beat him and forced him to name Brother Jie as the source of the claim.

Xu Huo confronted Yang Chao at Longxing, where Yang Chao trapped him in an electrified cage with six starving Evolvers and demanded a fight. Xu Huo escaped and turned the Evolvers against the spectators, then set several Players and bodyguards on fire as he pursued Yang Chao, who retreated behind the Players.

• Brother Jie took Xu Huo to Longxing, where Yang Chao revealed he had arranged the trap and taunted Xu Huo about Xu Zhi's death.
• Yang Chao released six chained, starving Evolvers into the cage and offered to remove their shock collars if they attacked Xu Huo.
• Xu Huo cut through the cage and escaped in the darkness, then took Yang Chao's remote and switched it off.
• The freed Evolvers climbed onto the platform and attacked the spectators and bodyguards as Xu Huo warned Yang Chao about trying to control Evolvers.
• A trench-coated Player attacked Xu Huo while a burly man carried Yang Chao away, but Xu Huo set three Players and several bodyguards ablaze and pursued Yang Chao.

Xu Huo hunted down Yang Chao and forced him to recount what he knew about Xu Zhi’s death, then killed him and exposed the Yang family’s criminal operations. The videos and fires ignited a citywide scandal as Xu Huo went to sleep amid the turmoil.

• Xu Huo defeated the Players blocking his way and pursued Yang Chao out of the Underground Market.
• The bare-chested Player attacked Xu Huo, but a Flying Arrow killed him as he entered the Underground Market.
• Xu Huo dragged Yang Chao back and learned that Yang Chao had invented his claim about a bet; he remembered Xu Zhi dying from a stray bullet, though the two gunshots and other details did not match.
• Xu Huo killed Yang Chao, set fire to the Underground Market, and reported the Yang family’s warehouses and its uncle’s home to the police.
• Xu Huo exposed hidden facilities holding Evolvers by uploading videos, set the facilities ablaze, and went to sleep as the videos spread across the city.

Minister Fan and the Special Defense Department debated how to respond to Xu Huo after his actions sparked public support, then sent Jiang Qiao and Team Leader Wu to negotiate with him. Xu Huo revealed he had reached D-class and asked them to uncover what happened at the Seventeenth Hospital around the time he was treated there twenty years earlier.

• Minister Fan, Team Leader Song, Team Leader Wu, and Jiang Qiao argued over Xu Huo’s actions and the public’s reaction to the treatment of Evolvers.
• Minister Fan sent Jiang Qiao and Team Leader Wu to make one final attempt to negotiate with Xu Huo.
• Xu Huo told the pair he was already a D-class player, making the snipers waiting outside unable to prevent his escape into the game.
• Xu Huo asked Team Leader Wu about the Seventeenth Hospital and what had happened there twenty years earlier.

Xu Huo rejected the Special Defense Department’s offer to cooperate, arguing that it could not control Players and that District 014 faced threats from other Sub-districts. He left the hotel using a Space Movement Tool, leaving the department scrambling to find him.

• Team Leader Wu and Jiang Qiao discussed reports of past incidents that Xu Huo believed were caused by Players invading District 014.
• Jiang Qiao suggested the Seventeenth Hospital had experimented on Xu Huo and the four other children, and questioned whether Xu Zhi’s death had been faked.
• Xu Huo insisted Xu Zhi was dead and refused to join the Special Defense Department, saying he wanted to investigate the matter himself.
• Xu Huo warned Team Leader Wu and Jiang Qiao that Players could eventually replace the department and that District 014 could fall under outside control.

After escaping the Special Defense Department, Xu Huo arrived in Flower City and decided to focus on raising his player level and evolution rate. There, he found Yan Jiayu in a park, where she beat two youths who had approached her with bad intentions.

• Team Leader Song lamented that Xu Huo had escaped, while Dai Wenqian argued that the department should leave him alone and quietly help free captive Evolvers.
• Dai Wenqian told his subordinate to contact their allies and protect Evolvers in hiding so he could take advantage of the situation.
• Xu Huo concluded that joining the Special Defense Department would not help him find the Doctor and resolved to become a famous High-level Player instead.
• Xu Huo used Five or Five Open Air Window to escape, landed safely in Flower City, and went to a noodle shop in the old district.
• After hearing two youths discuss a girl with money in a deserted park, Xu Huo went there and found Yan Jiayu watching a crooked puppet.
• Yan Jiayu broke the youths' limbs with her Stone Staff and said she was giving them a beating on society's behalf.

Xu Huo reunited with Yan Jiayu at a haunted amusement park, and they entered the Pink Hat Amusement Park Dungeon together. After buying a Double Ticket, they received the park’s rules and a mission to visit at least one park.

• Xu Huo found Yan Jiayu waiting for a glowing puppet that served as the Dungeon entrance, and she explained that children had disappeared there.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu waited until night, touched the Wooden Puppet, and entered the Dungeon.
• They fought off balloons inside the amusement park as the entrance’s Clowns exploded and revealed three park routes.
• Yan Jiayu confronted a Puppet Pirate demanding tickets, and Xu Huo bought a Double Ticket for them to stay together.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu entered Rabbit Bear Happy Park, where they met a suspicious player and learned that the park’s games awarded collectible Little Hats. At Bear Snack Stall, Xu Huo bought expensive candy and snacks to obtain a Play Guide, leaving the pair ready to learn more about the park.

• Yan Jiayu chose Rabbit Bear Happy Park, and she and Xu Huo entered through a hollow in a giant tree.
• Xu Huo threw a Stone at a nearby tree, revealing a man in a pink bowler hat who offered them Little Hats and suggested they team up.
• Xu Huo declined the Little Hats but invited the man to visit Bear Snack Stall with them; the man instead vanished into the woods.
• At the stall, a Plush Bear offered snacks and said customers only got a Play Guide when they bought something.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu reached the first game point at Rabbit Bear Happy Park and discovered that its rock-paper-scissors game forced them to play scissors against the Plush Rabbit’s rock. They stalled the game by tempting the rabbit with candy, leaving the contest unresolved as the giant rabbits waited outside.

• Yan Jiayu and Xu Huo bought cabbage leaves, killed the cannibal rabbits attacking them, and entered the Wooden Cabin.
• Mother Rabbit’s giant rabbits returned and ate the dead rabbits outside the cabin.
• A Plush Rabbit announced a game in which it could only play rock while Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu could only play scissors.
• Xu Huo learned that losing would open the door to the mutant animals and asked whether the game had a time limit.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu ate candy during the ten-minute pause, and the Plush Rabbit asked to try some.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu outwitted Plush Rabbit and obtained two Little Hats before following its directions to the Mirror Tent. They found a busy amusement park where Players were displaying their hats, and two Players approached to offer an upgraded Play Guide.

• Yan Jiayu ate candy to tempt Plush Rabbit while Xu Huo refused to play its game, prompting the rabbit to attack him with an axe.
• Xu Huo offered Plush Rabbit candy in exchange for admitting defeat, and the rabbit accepted candy before giving Yan Jiayu Little Hats.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu discussed the Dungeon’s hidden consent rule and why they should avoid taking extra hats.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu followed Plush Rabbit’s directions to the Mirror Tent and found many Players gathered around the amusement park.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu learned that clearing the amusement park Dungeon required collecting the correct Little Hats from fixed and hidden Quiz Game locations. After a player was killed for harming a Plush Bear and destroying a hat, Tang Xiao explained how extra hats and rule violations could trap players.

• Two players tried to sell Xu Huo an upgraded Play Guide, but Tang Xiao drove them off and warned Xu Huo that they were scamming newcomers.
• Tang Xiao explained that players needed hats from fifteen Quiz Game locations, including five whose locations could appear anywhere, and that extra hats required completing additional sets.
• A player who had answered incorrectly attacked a Plush Bear, and killing it scattered hats across the ground; when he crushed one beneath his foot, the game killed him.
• A Plush Monkey collected the hats and gave them to a female player, whom Xu Huo recognized as having arranged for the player to destroy a hat.
• Tang Xiao explained that players could not destroy, discard, or force others to destroy hats, and advised Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu to buy hats from a Plush shop for protection.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu entered the Mirror Tent after buying hats and candy and declining a pair of Players’ offer to team up. Inside, they met a Clown who presented no quiz question before the chapter ended.

• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu bought Pink Hats and expensive candy, and the Plush Pigs gave them a Bubble Machine.
• A pair of Players offered to team up, but Xu Huo declined and asked a Plush Pig whether he could give extra Little Hats to someone else.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu paid to enter the Mirror Tent and discovered that its floating stars were moving mirror shards.
• A Clown appeared in a blank mirror, and Yan Jiayu wiped candy residue from the glass before she and the Clown silently exchanged looks.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu won the Mirror Tent quiz and left the camp before it vanished, then lured pursuing Players into the jungle and fought them. Xu Huo exposed a hidden attacker with fire, but his sword struck only a phantom as the Player appeared several meters away.

• Yan Jiayu chose a quiz question, and Xu Huo correctly answered what the rabbit at stall number five had sold; they received Pink Little Hats and a lighting-tool hair clip.
• A Plush Bear led Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu out of the Mirror Tent, where the camp began disappearing as the sky darkened.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu deliberately headed away from Bear Bear Small Building, and several Players, including Tang Xiao, followed them.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu fought off players trying to exploit the Little Hat rules, but the Tattooed Man and the Remote Player escaped. Tang Xiao offered to trade information about the Dungeon’s Game Points for their method of clearing them, and Xu Huo tested his truth-verifying mask with a startling claim.

• Xu Huo discovered that the String Controller’s evasive movement followed a fixed pattern and killed him, while Yan Jiayu sent the Rope Player flying into the Remote Player.
• The Remote Player raised a vine barrier and escaped with the Tattooed Man, leaving Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu to discuss how their enemies had planned to use the hat rules against them.
• Tang Xiao approached Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu, explaining that his group knew most Game Point rules but still lacked the final Quiz Game location’s key step.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu rejected Tang Xiao’s offer to join his group and went to Bear Bear Small Building to investigate its game. Yan Jiayu began a toe-stepping match with Uncle Bear and scored her second stomp before the chapter ended.

• Xu Huo declined to join Tang Xiao’s nearly thirty-player group because he suspected they had misunderstood how to clear the games.
• Tang Xiao warned Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu that the bears’ attack power doubled after four in the afternoon, so they hurried to Bear Bear Small Building.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu entered the building and learned that Uncle Bear’s game gave him ten chances to step on their toes for every one chance they got to step on his.
• Yan Jiayu stomped on Uncle Bear’s paw, dodged his pursuit across the springy floor, and landed a second stomp.

Yan Jiayu and Xu Huo escaped Uncle Bear’s game after Yan Jiayu stepped on its paw three times, then headed toward a nearby camp. On the way, they met the two Players from the Mirror Tent again, and Yan Jiayu confronted them after sensing something suspicious.

• Yan Jiayu dodged Uncle Bear’s attacks, but sticky floor goo trapped her feet until Xu Huo helped her break free.
• Xu Huo distracted Uncle Bear with candy, allowing Yan Jiayu to land on its paw for the third time and win the game.
• Uncle Bear accepted their departure after Xu Huo offered it candy, and the pair left the Wooden Cabin through a window.
• Yan Jiayu told Xu Huo she had broken a toe, and they decided to stay at a nearby amusement-park camp before visiting the third Game Point the next day.
• The two Players they had met outside the Mirror Tent claimed the third Game Point was closed and recommended a mountain cabin, but Yan Jiayu questioned their appearance and accused them of smelling of blood.

Yan Jiayu and Xu Huo fought two Players in the woods, and Xu Huo outmaneuvered Senior by using the battlefield and his items against him. Senior was left convulsing after a Skin-Retaining Worm burrowed into his body.

• Yan Jiayu attacked the female Player while Xu Huo used a Thin Thread to stop Senior from helping her.
• Senior unleashed a sandstorm with a Paper Pinwheel, but Xu Huo escaped its range and stomped the item into the mud to end the storm.
• Xu Huo fought Senior with his sword and Strings while Senior attacked with hammers, spikes, and District 013's Skin-Retaining Worms.
• Xu Huo trapped Senior with the Strings and revealed a Skin-Retaining Worm crawling onto his shoe from the ashes of his clothes.
• Senior failed to cut out the worm after Xu Huo shot his wrist with a Flying Arrow, and the worm burrowed beneath his jaw as he collapsed in agony.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu dealt with Cannibal Players and Skin-Retaining Worms, then followed a map to a Lodging Camp in the amusement park. They settled into the Castle and wondered where the missing children had been taken.

• Yan Jiayu killed a Skin-Retaining Worm that attached itself to her, and Xu Huo finished off Xuege after a Flesh Worm emerged from his body.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu agreed not to let the Skin-Retaining Worms harm anyone and dug up and crushed five of them.
• Xu Huo dismissed a female Player's unreliable map, and Yan Jiayu killed her when she attacked.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu reached a fairytale Castle Lodging Camp, paid for a room, and learned that the amusement park did not welcome guests buying meat.
• Yan Jiayu asked where the missing children were, and Xu Huo suggested they could be anywhere in the vast amusement park before proposing to divide their items.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu divided the items they had collected, and Yan Jiayu traded the Gentleman of Light Medal for Xu Huo’s Big Scissors. Xu Huo then studied a map and concluded that its changing Quiz Game locations made it only partly useful.

• Yan Jiayu described the items she had taken from the female Player, and Xu Huo showed her the items he had obtained from the String Controller and Cannibal Player.
• Yan Jiayu explained that some items were born naturally through changes caused by Wormholes, and she and Xu Huo divided the items they had collected together.
• Yan Jiayu chose the Bread Clip and Sharp Table Knife, while Xu Huo took the Non-Knotting Thread and Big Belly Bottle.
• Xu Huo offered Yan Jiayu his Big Scissors, and she agreed to trade them for her Gentleman of Light Medal after explaining that she was a Professional Monk.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu reached the Cube Maze, where Yan Jiayu accidentally caused a chain reaction that toppled many floating Magic Cubes. They fled into the giant question cube, and Xu Huo suspected the amusement park’s Plushes shared a single identity or vision.

• Xu Huo watched fireworks with a Plush Rabbit, which told him that the Castle’s Great Bell matched the clock at C9’s Clock Tower.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu cleared three amusement-park Game Points and reached the Cube Maze’s Quiz Game venue.
• Yan Jiayu touched a floating Magic Cube, causing it to fall, and Xu Huo identified the cubes’ movement as magnetic levitation.
• Yan Jiayu threw a small Magic Cube, triggering a chain reaction that toppled several large cubes, so she and Xu Huo ran toward the maze’s center.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu entered the Magic Cube’s dark maze and learned its rules from the quizmaster Smiley: Players had to occupy illuminated Cube Pillars to answer questions, while falling into Otherspace meant disappearing into the unknown. After several Players died or claimed pillars, Xu Huo tested his sword’s limits and fought for a new Cube when the lights shifted.

• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu entered the Magic Cube and discovered that the ground beneath them split into separate, shrinking pillars.
• Smiley explained that Cube Pillars lasted three minutes, new lights and Cubes appeared every thirty seconds, and Players who answered a quiz question correctly could pass while those who failed stayed in the Dark Space.
• Xu Huo asked how many Players could participate, and Yan Jiayu asked whether the Cubes stayed floating; Smiley answered both questions and vanished.
• Seven Players rushed toward five illuminated pillars; one Player killed a rival to claim a pillar, while another fell from a sharp-cornered Cube into Otherspace.
• A bearded Player warned Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu that more Players were hiding in the dark, and Xu Huo found that his Bright Red Sword’s Sword Qi vanished beyond the light.
• When the lights shifted, Xu Huo dashed toward a nearby Cube, dodged a sledgehammer, and attacked another Player, who blocked with a bracer and spat a hidden weapon at him.

Xu Huo fought off a Player who attacked him with candy while Players competed for Cube Pillars in the darkness. The Clown returned early with a question about the total number of floating cubes, and one Player answered correctly before the next round began.

• Xu Huo watched a Player use a Mechanical Fly to drive another contestant off a Cube Pillar, then learned that voices and items worked wherever the beams of light reached.
• When a Player attacked Xu Huo with deadly candy, Xu caught and threw the pieces back with a Glass Jar, stopping the attack temporarily.
• Xu retaliated with more candy, causing the attacker to stumble onto a Cube Pillar, and an apple thrown by an unknown Player knocked him off it.
• The Clown appeared and announced that ten minutes had passed, then explained that his inaccurate clock had brought the question round early.

Xu Huo survived the Cube Maze by using Cleaning Agent to defeat a Player, then answered the Clown’s question and escaped with Yan Jiayu. After they collected their reward, Jin Zhao approached them and explained that time could flow differently across Dungeons and Otherspaces.

• Xu Huo used Cleaning Agent to dissolve a chef Player’s Sticky Dough, causing the Player to fall, and caught the Mechanical Fly he spat out.
• Yan Jiayu helped a long-haired Player hang onto a pointed cube, while Xu Huo waited for the next position change.
• Xu Huo correctly answered the Clown’s question about the number of floating cubes, and he and Yan Jiayu appeared outside the maze.

Xu Huo realized the Dungeon task’s Route Map conflicted with the Play Guide, leaving them unsure which information was false and where a hidden Game Point might be.

• Jin Zhao introduced his companion Peng Ru, whose Preschool Teacher profession seemed to make the Plush figures refuse to sell her candy.
• Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu wondered why the Plush figures disliked Peng Ru and discussed whether the Dungeon Boss controlled them.
• Xu Huo reasoned that the Little Hat rules might allow players to trade or steal hats outside the Plush figures’ sight, though he had not tested the idea.
